Like many of you, I own Ford stock, which give me/us the privilege of x-plan pricing. However, As an investment, Ford is broken, at least right now.Thursday’s earning report seemed ok, but commodity constraints (mainly chips shortage) was a bigger drag than expected. Additionally, forward guidance, was not encouraging. Ford stock is off 31% from it’s 52 week high and down approximately 14% since Wednesday close. What is a bit more concerNing near term, PUT option buying is extremely high. (Protection for stock holders afraid stock price may go lower.
How that affects us; if you were planning to use your stock towards your purchase Of your Maverick.

As for me, I just want a build date

Ford stock price drop is temporary. It's timed with the ridiculous article that says GM has solved its chip problem. BTW, they have not. They are just removing them from vehicles (and features). So the market thinks Ford is behind the curve and this is going to last longer than they want. They want Ford to be skyrocketing forward again.

Short sellers who are taking what they made, or their losses and putting it somewhere else with bigger gain in the short term. I am not concerned about this whatsoever. Ford is producing highly desirable models that the market is demanding. The new Ranger is around the corner. As long as they stay on it in product development and do not let off the throttle, they will have no issues.

Now if they could work on customer communication a little better, that will also help for the future.

Everyone loosing their minds over the drop and blaming ford's management needs to zoom their charts out. The stock is trading at the same level it was in November and is only down such a high % because it ran up such a high % last month. For conversation it was $11.37 a year ago. I don't recall a bunch of posts in January praising the company for such amazing leadership. Lol

Im poor and started buying F in 2020. Im sitting at 250 shares and buying $300 a month, plus giving 2 shares a month to my neice. I am still up well over $1000 even after this mornings hit. I will keep buying especially in this slump. Long term most still have faith in Ford. I think once the chip shortages catch up things will get moving alot better. I also have little faith in Tesla long term. Just from the examples of Elon selling off alot of shares and crypto crashing, all while the Ford family is buying huge chunks regularly.

I don’t think that is how short selling works.

Yes, thank you. I mean to refer buying something quickly to make some quick money off of short gains. I just Googled the financial term short selling and that is completely different. :)

Yeah I lost $1900 on that. Thats alot to me, would take me a couple month to save that kind of cash. However I bought most of my 250 shares much lower than it is right now. And I think the future looks good for F so while it is low I am buying buying buying. with this slump I am able to buy 5 more shares a month and if it stays lower for a year or so I am able to buy 60 more shares a year than previously possible. If my high price point to pull out is $40(that is my low end long term estimate) and it takes 2 low years to climb out of the 20s then sharts shooting higher once constraints allieviate. I could theoretically cash out with over $5000 extra in gains had it rose to that level in straight line versus a concaved curve. $5000 is big money to me. Thats enough to build a 325 hp inline 6 for my Eagle. For people that are buying for retirement or long term gains the longer it stays low while there are justify-able reasons the more money we will make by accumulating shares.

Of course this is all on a risk. And I should have saved in my 20s and gone to college and borrowed more to make more to be more blah blah blah. But people that did that never saw the sunsets and starry nights I saw and sang songs by fire light like I did.

Long story short, if you like to be stressed out worry about short term, if you dont like stress hope for the long term. Worst case scenario is I re-evaluate when I hit that point where I have made no gains on initial investment.
