In preparation of getting my truck in about a month I am wondering what the cost of the extended warranty cost is. I know some dealers are giving deals on this. But wondering what the actual cost is. Awd Lariat Lux. And can I purchase it at a later date. Checked some out but did not want to give my email out to get a quote.

If you do get one I would highly recommend getting one from Ford. There are some good thirty party options as well but there are also a lot of third party extended warranties that are scams.
Also the Ford ESP's usually have huge dealer markups. For instance the dealership quoted me about $2,500 for my Mustang for Ford's Preferred Care ESP for 8 years and 60K miles with a $100 deductible. I got the same exact plan and coverage from another dealership for $975!
Flood Ford and Granger Ford sell them for $50 over cost.

Every plan offered by Ford ESP, check out those two websites. You have a lot of options not just for plan level but miles allowed, years covered and deductible.

I am a bit confused by the dates offered on these plans. Do they start after the factory warranty expires? For example the esp 5 year plan is 3 years factory and 2 years extended? So in reality it is only 2 years. The Granger site says it starts when you acquired the vehicle. Found it nice that they displayed the cost.

Ford ESP starts when the vehicle enters service. This is because there are some benefits that run concurrent with the standard warranty like the enhanced rental or key coverage.

Ah that's what I thought. I have a home back up generator and that's how that worked too. As a rule I never buy these. But I did on the generator, had a lighning strike that took out a few electronic components and it was covered. So my feeling on these warranties is changing.

I plan on picking one up soon myself. Going to use my fordpass points towards the purchase and knock a couple hundred off. 6yr 100k at 100$ deduct is a pretty great deal and covers the life of my original loan.

I bought one for my Shelby and used my Ford Pass points to off set the cost

FordPass points can take a good chunk off, especially if you have and use the Visa card. $55 for signing up, another $125 using it for my down payment, and typically $9 a month from using it on gas/insurance. I'll have enough points to cover almost half the cost of the ESP which is already pretty inexpensive for even 8yr/100k.

Thanks think I will use the Ford Pass but not get the card. Always thought three things to pay cash, food, booze and gas. That's why I hope NJ never gets self serve. A pain to use cash at self serve. I don't mind pumping but hate having to go into the store twice!
