Exhaust burned rear bumper

I have a 2023 maverick 2.0 with the 4000 pound tow pack, towing my 6 x 12 utility trailer. I noticed that my rear bumper started to melt on the bottom where the exhaust tucks in right behind it. Anyone else have that issue?

I did as well, but I thought it was because I had an exhaust tip ,now seeing that you said the same thing.
I think it gets quite hot considering i had space between the tip and the bumper And mine still melted.

If possible could you take a photo of it?

I plan on getting a small camper very soon for the summer and would love to keep an eye out for that but currently only sort of have an idea what you are speaking about.

NOTE: I am unsure how much your trailer weighs or how much weight you were towing. I can assume it was at or below the 4k mark, but I am also not judging you if it was over that. just if it was more than that, maybe it affects suspension that much more and moves things closer together or something, idk...but if it was under 4k, then the average MTC member who tows may want to keep an eye out for that.

Otherwise a photo of what is melting would definitely help all MTC members who may or currently tow, keep an eye out to see if that is happening to them as well.

Does it only happen when towing? I looked at mine today and see no damage. The pipe turn down is not very close to the bumper and mine does not have the small muffler in back? My truck has 15k mile on it.

It gets hot back there when towing. I built a 3" exhaust and exited it a little past the plastic bumper. Haven't had a problem since.
