I ended up pumping the brakes on Etsy. It's all fluff stuff. No meat and potatoes. I looked at every decal and accessory on Etsy and said no to them all. The roof rack Etsy had I just found and bought direct from the supplier for cheaper. Don't need a phone holder either (I use android auto and drive). Maybe when I get bored in a few years I'll mix it up with a decal.

My advice to new owners is start with the functional accessories first. Ford stuff or quality aftermarket. You might be surprised how much extra you'll want to spend on function stuff first. Then you'll know if you still want to spring for Etsy decals.

I too had grand Etsy plans until I realized how much all the other shit costs....

I recently made my first Etsy purchase, it was Maverick tailgate lettering. Never again. The default Etsy account settings allow for advertising texts and phone calls. I noticed it in the account settings when I signed up, so I turned that crap off right away.

After the decal order arrived, I got relentless daily emails to review the tailgate letters. No unsubscribe in the emails. I didn’t want to review the letters because my Maverick won’t be here until July (June build date). To get them to stop, I closed my account.

But the worst part is that two weeks after the Etsy purchase, I got a spam text for “decals and graphics for my business.” I’m careful with my phone number and I get very few spam texts, usually not even one per month. And those are almost always flipper vultures wanting to lowball buy my house.

I don’t believe the spam text was a coincidence, and the only thing I’m not sure about is if it is Etsy that gave my phone number to spammers, or was it the Etsy seller. Either way, I now know why so many people call it RegrEtsy.
