Definitely buy it and order a 2023.
If it’s eating you up sell or trade it in at MSRP or payoff.
Even trading it in at cost you’ll save money on the taxes.
I ended up in a similar situation. In August the assumption was that my MY22 would rollover so I purchased an abandoned retail unit with an ADM. When my order comes in I plan to sell the XLT with 4K I plan to just sell for my payoff. It’ll be over MSRP since I paid an ADM but under market thousands.

Yes on both options. Sorry if that hurt.
Sure did. 😭

October 7th confirmation. Lux, 360, getting rolled to a 23.

Good luck. In my state I would have to register and pay uncle sam 6% in sales tax before I could sell the vehicle... that would immediately eat into a big chunk of any potential profit. Not to mention whatever dealer admin fee I would have to eat as well. Unless you don't have to pay sales tax, I don't see how folks are really making that much money to "flip" a Maverick. I think individuals are much more likely to pay a "markup" when buying from a dealership than when purchasing a "used" new vehicle from a private seller. I could be wrong though.
People are selling base XL hybrids with 5,000 miles on them for $33,000 .

Just Google and you will see them.
Listed for sale ad does not equate to actual sold vehicles.. I can go out an list my current Lariat with 3k miles on it for 45k, doesn't mean it will sell for that.

Easy enough for you to check. Just look again a couple weeks ago. When Maverick prices first started selling for more than MSRP, I thought a dealer near me would never get $10,000 over MSRP. Drove by the dealer three days later and it was sold. And that was just after Jan 1.

My wife and I went in to the dealer yesterday to try and upgrade our 2022 XLT hybrid order (placed Nov 21) into a 2023 Lariat hybrid. System was down and the manager had gone home today with the order folders to try and handle them overnight.

Got a call from our salesman this morning that they couldn't make the changes because our truck is scheduled for production! He didn't have the date yet (waiting to hear back). My wife was already warming up to the Lariat luxury features and I was liking the black appearance package addition so now we're questioning our next move.

Do you think it would be unethical to follow through on our '22 order, make a '23 order, and resell the '22 at markup to split the cost difference to the upgraded features we want on a '23? I don't think we'd have any issues on making a sale with the current demand. Also, the '22 is a Velocity Blue which will no longer be offered which might increase demand further.
Do it.

I originally wanted a hybrid but ordered an Ecoboost XL due to the parts shortage.
I got an email yesterday that my 22 XL was was finally scheduled for production last minute. I also placed another order today for a 23 Hybrid XL. I plan to sell the 22 when the hybrid arrives.

Looking at your post history, we didn't get the sunroof option. Maybe that's part of the reason for the delay? I've seen posts about the trailer hitches holding up orders, so not hard to imagine other options doing that too.

I am in an almost similar condition. I have two orders in and I was hoping they would both get rolled over, but my first one was scheduled. They are both Lariat Lux hybrids, but I like the Black Appearance package and Atlas Blue color so I plan on taking the second one. If my 23 gets scheduled before the 22 arrives I will just walk away and let the dealer take it. If the 22 comes in before the 23 is scheduled though, I am deciding whether to take it and sell it when the 23 comes in or not. I don't really want to go through Private Party and handling the sales tax so I was looking at Carvana/Carmax/Vroom etc. So far it seems that I will just be breaking even if I'm lucky so I don't know worth the hassle. I will be financing both vehicles so that would be two hits on my credit within a few months.

Again, FOR SALE advertised price, does not equate to sold price. Keep 'em coming though as I know you have nothing better to do than prove an internet stranger wrong.
Oh, I agree with you, it is asking price, but you can't get it if you don't ask for it.
