Engine block heater recall (2022-2024 Maverick)

Not true. I have a block heater on my 23 Hybrid. Its almost mandatory equipment in Canada.

For MY22 it was standard equipment on all Mavericks sold in Canada. Ford dealers up here are going to be busy dealing with this.

In the Hybrid this will be a PITA to remedy if it is a full replacement.

All day job for sure.

Basically on the assembly line, they put in the heater, then build the rest of the engine around it.

Adding an engine block heater DIY at home isn't really an option for this reason.

decades ago here in PA i had a Rabbit diesel. We were having an especially cold night forecast so i propped a plugged in clothes iron up against the bottom of the oil pan. It worked. Never felt the need to do that again lol.

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 60,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles due to a potential fire hazard.

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker reported to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) the engine block heater in some vehicles may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing a short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

A short circuit in the engine block heater increases the risk of an under-hood fire, Ford wrote in a letter to dealerships dated Wednesday, Oct. 15.

According to the NHTSA report, owners were advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is fixed.

The auto manufacturer said it was not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries connected to the issue.

What should I do if my Ford is recalled?
Dealers will replace the block heater free of charge, the NHTSA recall notice said.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners by Oct. 24. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, potentially in February 2026.

Mine was added after the fact, by the dealership, when dealing with the original oil overflow due to overheating recall.

So the factory one failed and they replaced it? If not, you got scammed, since as I said all Canadian Mavs for MY22 came with them stock.

Is there a separate TSB or recall for the '25s? I just checked my Ford app and don't see anything pending, though I have a '25 Lariat Hybrid with the block heater. I also haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, and I've had the truck for ~6 months now.

It does not apply to the hybrid. only the eco boost.

Another one, that makes 12 or 13 recalls now. Right on track for the 21 consumer reports estimated for the Maverick back in late 2023.

Try adding One Hundred to your number for 2025. A new record and second year in a row at number 1. And way ahead of all the other manufacturers. Yet most take it with a grain of salt!

Yeah Ford's been setting the record for the number of recalls 5 years running. It's almost a joke at this point. Brings a whole new meaning to the old FORD acronyms... Found On Road Dead, and Fix Or Repair Daily. I can count the number of months, while owning the Maverick, that I haven't received a Recall or Customer Satisfaction notice on one hand.
