I have been driving on eco mode more recently, but I have to switch it everytime I drive the car.
Anyone knows a way I can make eco mode my primary driving mode?

Unfortunately no, the default is normal mode.

Yes, you have to select this mode EVERY time you restart the truck. I was surprised, but this mode works. I am up to 28mpg from around 26mpg.

It's a pain. Default would be nice. But I have now trained myself whenever I have the realization I am looking at the blue screen, I reach down and press the button 4 times and then I am looking at the blue/green ECO screen. I now remember 50% of the time before I put it into gear. And most of the other times within a few blocks.

Maybe there's someone that can find out if ForScan can change default to Eco. I'd be up for that.

It really should just stay in whatever last mode engaged was IMO. Empower the owner.

That said, one thing I do give Hyundai props for is that they default to something called "smart" mode. Its like an eco-mode, but unlike many eco-modes the "smart" part is that it can tell if economy, special traction, or sport mode is inappropriate and can switch to them automatically with just a light indicator so the operator knows its green for eco, blue for regular, or red for sport.

It monitors all the sensors on the vehicle including G-s, wheel slip, vehicle incline, and the like and can tell that you're suddenly driving very aggressively and automatically puts itself into a fast-shifting rev holding "sport" mode of a while until you chill out, at which point it returns itself back to its less throttle sensitive and lethargic short shifting "economy" mode. Moreover, it trains itself adjusting to driver habits to better anticipate when to switch in the future.

This is a software update that I hope Ford can implement as well.

Buckle seat belt.
Press mode button four times.
Activate cruise control.
Tune radio.
Shift into gear.

One would think Eco would the default mode on the hybrid at least. Or better yet, leave it in the last mode selected as someone said.

Yes, I wanted to default to eco mode, but I must get it there every time. I think it's a safety and liability issue that Ford should roll out a patch to fix this because you have must the button four times while driving to get it in eco mode and that is a safety concern because it takes your eyes off the road besides being annoying. If eco mode gets you better miles per gallon then it should be the default for the default when you place it in eco and not have to push a button four times and take your eyes off the road to get it there. I really love the truck, but it is a real safety concern hopefully Ford will fix it soon with an update
