that was me. you can use the 'reply' link in the forum and it will quote whatever comment you're clicking that link on. like I've done here. you can then do that repeatedly to quote multiple things, including your own previous replies, like this:

another 3-5 years down the road there are going to be a lot of Mavericks with hazed headlamp lenses. ESPECIALLY the trucks whose owners are members of subscription car washes.

it will be nice to have an upgrade option rather than just replacing with OEM or generic equivalent.

so, anyway, what did I mean by that? what I mean is that any car wash that makes contact with your vehicle is capable of scratching it. maybe a little, maybe a lot. some brushes have a texture like bristles on a push broom. others are softer, like a carpet, but if a very muddy vehicle goes through ahead of you, either type of brush can rub gritty dirt into your vehicle's exterior, scratching it.

you can avoid that by using only touchless washes. local to me, there are 4 touchless washes versus at least 12-15 with brushes. so, I assumed that if you have a subscription, it's probably a facility with brushes. there are some folks here who have commented they use these car wash places multiple times a week, nearly daily. that is a massive amount of contact with your vehicle's exterior.

headlamp lenses are not very durable. they are thin plastic that is pretty easily scuffed and this causes a hazed appearance over time. that time might be 5 years, 8, or 10+ depending on how much you drive and how much you subject it to abrasive things like driving in traffic on dirt roads and automatic washes with brushes.

the clearcoat on your paint also gets scratched, but it's tougher and harder to notice compared to the headlamps. after 5 years, you might not notice, especially if you don't hand wash and wax the truck where you can see the defects up close. but you'll easily see the hazing on the headlamp lenses.

FWIW I reached out to FORM and they stated the headlights should be released around New Year. I also inquired if they would be releasing LED side markers for the Maverick. They stated its something they are starting to delve further into. Having the Lariat idk if I would replace the headlights but I would definitely be on board for LED side marker housings if it comes to fruition.

Additionally, I also spoke with them about a possible group buy to help jump start a side marker project. They expressed interest in this idea especially since the 2025MY will still be using the same side marker housings (one product to cover 2022-2025+MY). What they haven't told me yet was the number of commitments they would need to start this project. But anyone that may be interested, lmk and I'll try to get a tally together for when I hear back. For comparison their side markers for the Ranger are only $50 for the pair. So I don't believe it would be too heavy of a lift to organize a group buy for an item like this.

My experience with aftermarket headlights is dismal.

Everyone I have tried have been problematic... had some in my F350 when I got it. One failed and you had to buy two to get one.

I have a replacement in my Buick...impossible to aim. I bought the best ones I could find after one was hit by debris on the highway.

If you want long distance lighting it's hard to beat a pair of aircraft landing lights.

Yeah I understand that but I was talking about replacement housings with sealed LEDs inside. Similar to what’s below. Plug and play swap with better aesthetics and more light output. And hopefully more longevity than the 194 LEDs people are stuck throwing in there now.

Nicer looking than the lariat drl, but they're not worth over $1,000 for a silly LED DRL. Especially when all the OEM headlights include LED low and high beams. They'd have to be $600 a pair, for me to consider.

I'd rather they made a decent set of functioning LED tail lights for 300 bucks.

Yes! Very disappointed that nobody can make LEDs for the taillights that work as well as the OEM lamps.

I have yet to use a touchless wash that doesn't require me re-washing the parts that remain visibly dirty. They do fine on the large areas...

I pre-scrub bugs off the front fascia, headlights and windshield and then drive there with the soapy mix still on the truck. works pretty well.

if you have major funk you'll need to use a wand at a traditional self serve wash bay.
