Dual exhaust on my 2024 XLT 2liter

I installed dual exhaust on my Maverick,the only problem is looking at the exhaust from the side you can see the pipes. If I could remove the black box on the rear then I could raise up the pipes. My question is can you remove this box and what is it’s function.

Is that black box on the passenger side? If so it may be the pick up bed compartment near the tail gate. Just a guess.

Why dual exhaust, when you could put a quad exhaust on it? I always say go big, or go home.
With a quad exhaust, you’d have the most exhaust tips of any Maverick owner.
