Shane, I think I shot my iced tea out of my nose reading this.... Exactly my own sort of twisted reasoning...
I did buy one of those hammacks and it's worked out well.... holding as many as 3 dogs and a cat, everyone having enough space. Takes maybe 60 seconds to get out from underneath the rear seat, shake it (like that does anything), and then install it.
I am going to pickup one of those bed rugs too, becuase I'm pretending they are going to ride back there too...

It wasnt a few weeks before they found their way into the cab. Found a matching hammock though. They are usually back in the bed these days. Since Batmans hips started bugging him it has been harder for him to get in the backseat so we have a 7ft long grippy ramp that fits across the bed and give him a long gently slope to get in. Harvey of course is nice and sweet in the backseat but as soon as you get out he is in the front seat slobbering on the windows. So its a rare occasion for them to be up there. However with the pass through window open, the vented pass window open and the drivers side windoor partially open they get a ton of air. If we are gonna park for a while we got fans for em too. Cushy kitchen mats from costco work nicely for the bed for em.

One of my dogs was my first passenger in the Maverick (trip to the vet). I just threw a blanket over the back seat but have a pet cover with the seat extender on it's way. She's 100 lbs andwhile she seemed to have enough room, I'm hoping the seat extender will add a bit more. Our other dog is 90 lbs but if they can cram into a Mini Cooper they'll love the Mav.
Used to have a Tundra and loved the flat rear floor with the seats up and wished the Mav did the same. But with the Mav rear seat up there's just not enough room for a dog to turn around. If the floor was flat I'd look at removing the bottom reat seat portion, and may try it anyways and use some plywood to build a flat deck.
