I started having a problem with the touchscreen and middle console about 2 days after buying my Maverick.
The first day i drove my Maverick, everything was fine. The touchscreen was bright. The second day (at this time I had not driven my Maverick in the dark) as I was driving I could see the touch screen dim, then go bright, then dim, as I was looking at it. I didn't touch it at all. Then the 3rd day and since it has just stayed dim. I drove it at night about the 3rd or 4th day and noticed that the middle console is dim also. The gauge cluster (speedometer, fuel gauge, tachometer, etc) there is no problem. It is as bright as it should be. If I go into the brightness settings and hit the + to the max setting, the gauge cluster gets brighter (too bright really) and the middle console gets just adequately bright enough. I was thinking maybe some LEDS may have burned out on the circuit board where the middle console is, but don't see how that would affect the brightness of the touchscreen as well, as the touch screen would have not have LEDS on a circuit board like the middle console. The LED's are in the screen itself. I also observed that when I'm driving in the dark, pull into my garage, and turn off the headlights to the off position (not auto setting), the middle console lights will brighten to where they should be. So that rules out burnt out LEDS I guess. So at this point I'm maybe thinking that the light sensor on the dash may be malfunctioning and reading the light levels wrong, ? Aggggh. Don't know.
I'm going to take it in for service right after I complete the break in. Just wondering if anyone had a similar problem and found a solution? It is hard for the dealer to see what I am talking about if it is not in a completely dark environment for them to see the dim console.
