Creating "dog mode"

My camper has A/C and refrigerator that runs off inverter and battery whilst tooling down the road powered by solar panels, it stays a cool 75 degrees, poochy could like that.

Oh, cool setup.

We just bought a little (5x8) camper with ac. I've been learning about adding a higher wattage inverter on another thread. Great idea to let it run the camper ac!

I respect your opinion but let's be frank, everyone has one. So I agree to disagree.

I'm not a fan of PETA but wanted to enlighten everyone on numbers per year. This first one is pets left in vehicles. The second link is dogs dieing in car accidents per year. Thus numbers on how dangerous it is having a pet in your vehicle. Majority of people do not understand or acknowledge the potential danger even in a fender bender. Not sure if there are any numbers of pets in a car causing an accident by being a distraction similar to cell phones.

Some say that most car accidents involving dogs are avoidable, and there are steps you can take to keep your dog safe, such as:

• Using a crate, harness, or barrier to keep your dog secure and prevent distractions
• Never leaving your dog unattended in a car, especially in hot weather
• Having pet insurance "

It's a very valid concern, especially the accidents. It encourages me to look for was to make riding safer.

That said, I can't imaging not taking my dog camping, to his favorite trails, or to play with his doggo buddies.

So, I'll do what I can to mitigate risk while adventuring with my buddy.

I understand more than you realize. Having many hunt tests, training, hunting trips and many out of state. I encourage everyone to minimize risks associated with traveling with your pet.

A coworker got in a car accident and was not that severe, except his beloved dog was thrown into the windshield. It was very disheartening to say the least and he was beside himself. After seeing how it affected him, I personally don't want to go through that or anybody else for that matter. He vocalized many times he wished he didn't have taken his dog and more importantly blamed himself.

After reading this I want to make sure everyone reading this that he lost his dog. I might have not made myself clear in the original post and many may have assumed the dog was just injured. It was a wake up call for me. So if I sound a little anal I hope you can understand. Just side on safety and precautionary preparedness. I always kept a first aid kit for dogs. Not just for accidents in the car but in the field, or anywhere for that matter.

As for peta I agree with treating animals ethically although as with most organizations they can go too far. It was once considered radical to treat dogs as well as we do today.
I agree about accidents, whenever our dog is in the car he has his harness on and someone is holding him and the harness or if driving alone at least the harness. I'd still like to get a belt

We like our Bluetti power generators, this is a AC200P and an AC20, the AC20 allows us to watch a full length movie in the evening, the AC200P allows us to enjoy the movie with the air-conditioning running with ice cold drinks and popcorn out of the microwave, I've added a B200 battery so these luxuries last all night long. We've added 800 watts of Solar to the roof to be able to recharge the units during the day or use a 2200 watt inverter generator if it's crappy weather.

Just witnessed recently a vehicle running when I entered a grocery store with a dog inside the vehicle. Not sure how long it was there before I arrived. Well 45 minutes or so, it was still running when I left. Not sure when the owner or driver actually arrived. It's a scenario that can easily change at a moments notice. Many articles of children dying being left in a car. My guess the parent or guardian got sidetracked or lost the ability to tell time. Also I guess it wouldn't matter at least to you if you happened to collapse from dehydration, heart attack, stroke etc basically waking up at the hospital hours later, stuff happens. Everybody thinks it won't happen to them, until it does. I don't understand why take a risk with someone you supposedly love and adore. Dogs have unconditional love, I wished we had that trait.

Grab a leash and take him in, or leave him home.

I'm least concerned of the risk of theft of my vehicle, I'm more concerned about my dog having a comfortable safe temperature.

True but I think accidents happen more often than home fires

Great points.

For me these are always quick stops in very public places. I won't be leaving him in the truck while I furniture shop. And he is only with me when we're going on a trail or camping, so no inner city errand runs.

Thats our general style. We do occasionally take em on town errands, but when we do that they are in the bed with the windows open on 3 sides, with a ryobi fan and a big ole bowl of water. Parked nicely in a shade spot.

I will give ya that alot of dogs dies on roads. But in vehicles, given that those stats are estimated, I just cant accept that 3 times more dogs die as passengers in vehicle than human beings. Taking into account that humans outnumber dogs 4 to 1 in the US and most people that have dogs dont take them with them on most of their drives, such as commutes, vacations, driving work, medical visits, etc. I dont know a single person who does take their dog everywhere and never have. We take our dogs approximately 25% of the places we go, every mile included. Thats alot. Most people dont have dogs, and most dont take them as much as we do. Taking into account the number of people who dont wear seatbelts( like myself when not driving my maverick)is about 10%. Thats would have to mean that dogs are 40 times more likely to die in vehicle crashes as passengers than humans.

This is all very rough math. But still the numbers dont seem to work well with what is seen on the roads. Dogs getting hit i totally believe 100,000, but as passengers there is just no way that is accurate unless animal control trucks loaded with dogs are crashing everywhere.

But you are right we can agree to disagree. And that what we have here. This is not a failure of communication like so much these days. One thing I can say is that this is a prime example of a way that AI could help society. Data analytics. As long as it doesnt try to write a screenplay for it.

Not to mention how hazardous a parking lot can be. Even with a tight leash. I have had cars bump into me out of nowhere a couple times in my life, and I am generally a watch all the cars type of walker.

I have a fabric screen that fits the back window, in mild but sunny weather I just roll down that window. Dog doesn’t know window is open so leaves that alone. i do what OP does for short stepping away from truck in summer

What if they get struck by lightning. That's how ridiculous your analogy is. Unless your talking out west with forest fires, the average home catching on fire is slim.
