My usb ports are on the right side on My Lariat Ecoboost. I'm sure it will work either way. The problem I have been having with mine is I sometimes have to plug the phone in several times before the system recognizes it. Have you had any issues with yours?

I've had this issue too. I usually make sure my phone is "awake" (ie I use my face recognition to unlock it), and then the Maverick seems to recognize it. When I just plug the phone in without waking it up, it seems to be very hit or miss.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Yeah im sure that having your usb port on the right side wont change much. One issue I did have is the foam i initially used was a bit too thick and was unplugging the phone from the dock from time to time. That is pretty easy to fix though as you can just use some thinner foam or remove it altogether.

So I was initially going to go this route but realized quickly how often I need to take my phone out (apple pay at a drive thru for instance)

Ended up buying a wireless carplay adapter and it has been absolutely flawless...connects before I have a chance to put the truck in reverse, no lag, and no noticeable audio quality decrease. Plan to make a separate thread with more detail and the exact adapter.
Let’s hear it. Wouldn’t mind knowing which of these dongles actually works well. Seems many are laggy and glitchy.

I 3d printed a tiny little holder for a right angle usb c cable and it has been working amazing (ignore the fact that i canceled the print mid way through)

Thank you for this! I printed the file you shared and it worked great with my cable as well. I put foam over the top like you did but it doesn’t look as nice as yours. What type of foam/padding did you use?

I actually used some hat size reducer foam since it was sticky on one size and was the perfect width. I then cut it down to length and punched a hole for the usb. Good luck with your build!

Edit: I also put some carpet tape under the entire rubber tray so it won’t come up when you go to remove your phone. That worked like a charm
