Considering a new 2025 Ford Maverick XLT

The bulk of my driving is at higher speeds and in the mountains. I chose the Ecoboost. It truly feels like it has the power of the V-8’s of the seventies and eighties.
I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford the gas for my 10-12,000 miles a year at my 26-28 mpg’s. I get 30 out on the open road.

Negotiation on Out Of Door price, not on the monthly payment or Mrsp. my sisters a ford tech so I get family pricing, but I squeeze a little extra out of them for me it’s a 6-8week (4-6 left) wait on a Lobo. Xlt wait may differ. For me I was like if I’m gonna get new I might aswell get the color I want with the options I want and don’t want. I’d advise against a sunroof!

Florida does not allow you to purchase an extended warranty from out of state. The work around is to use a relative or friends address as once it is purchased it goes into the system based on VIN and from what I have heard it is all electronic and nothing goes to the mailing address. I am in Florida and within the month I will be getting one and using my in-laws address in Kentucky. Hope this helps with that part of your post.

Thanks everyone! I do plan on test driving the hybrid to compare the two before deciding. Tow package is a must I may want a small camper maybe an ALiner possibly in the future. Depending on trade in value a lariat may be an option if available. I will miss my v8 in my supcrew all three I've had, had one so if I go with the boosted it will be my first turbo. Been watching plenty of videos on car buying and most of my recent purchases the salesman always tell me I'm a hard sell. So OTD pricing is a must. Lol thanks again looking forward to this weekend!

It's a lottery, some win and some lose. Do you drive it often or does it sit a lot of the time? I only stated it as a consideration since OP will be retiring in a few years, and based on people I know that have retired don't drive daily like people that drive to work. But congratulations on the surviving battery, I see way too many threads on here concerning the issue.

My GUESS is that people don't complain when their trucks are just fine-the trucks wouldn't be selling if all hybrid owners were telling the world how bad they are. But we see a focus of those complaints here (when people are frustrated/ searching for answers).

We drive ours 6 days/ week usually, and there is not pattern to the deep sleep notices, which have been minimum 2 per month since April 2023. The truck started perfect after sitting undriven for a week several times.

The 12v battery is only used for the computer and NOT starting the ICE- so it's actually less of an issue than people make it out to be. The high voltage battery feeds the 12v as needed, and the computer does great keeping the HVB at reasonable charge.

It's been fun to once in a while try to push the limits- backing up a hill a bunch till the ICE turns on, seeing how much I can drive on battery only (depleting it).

We live down a hill so the last thing that happens before shutoff is some extra regen for the battery. Wife usually drives it to work (6 miles 40mph or less city streets) and it made me giggle one time when she got in and the ICE immediately kicked on as she put it into reverse- because I had managed to run the HVB all the way out still.

Even though the Maverick "seems" so small compared to pickup trucks- it's about 2in different length than a minivan. Still so much better in parking lots etc... than other pickups.

Super useful to have a pickup- if I had to choose only ONE car the rest of my life I'd go with Maverick. Have fun shopping! If the deal isn't right, walk away for another one!

Greetings Maverick owners, currently undecided but looking at a 2025 Maverick XLT, AWD Lux/tow/bap packages. I drive 3 miles to work and come home for lunch daily so 12 miles total. I'm 60 so can retire in 2 years. I average about 8k miles per year last 5 years. I think the hybrid would suite me the best but none close are available in the color and options I want. There is 2 trucks with the boosted 2.0. I have test driven one of our work trucks that had the boosted 2.0 and was pretty pleased with the acceleration. I really do not want to wait 4 months to build one as by then the 2026 should almost be available. Any words of wisdom as I go into the dealer Monday to either buy an existing XLT or order one. Also tried to figure out what an extended warranty would cost but on granger no option for Florida. I will be downsizing from a 2019 F150 Supercrew with low miles (60K) pretty much way more truck than I need and at 18MPG I want something more as I often drive 240 miles round trip to visit my kids and the wife and I want to start traveling a bit more. lol Thanks in advance!

It looks like your ready to buy a truck to last you a while. I did the same when the Maverick first was announced in June 2021. I would order a truck the way you want it, then shop around, and if you find something, cancel the order. The year of the truck (25, or 26) doesn't matter but it will cost more for the 26. Trucks don't depreciate like cars, condition sets the price. I also live in Florida, so get your extended warranty from Granger. Go hybrid, it will serve your lifestyle better when you retire.

There's a lot of parasitic draw on the 12v even while the Mav is off. I noticed it makes a lot of noises while I wash it or I just sit in it during lunch break. I've even tried leaving my keys in my room (about 50yds away) and it is still does the same thing.

But yeah i understand people will complain when they have an issue and thats what we'll mostly see, especially online, but when it's an issue addressed in a newer model, I have to believe it must've been real enough. At least enough to consider.

Being an old school guy I went with the Ecoboost, and I have been amazed at the gas mileage. We got 38 MPG on our first road trip and we are averaging 27. If most of your driving is in the city they hybrid is definitely worth considering though. Drive both and choose the one that suits you best, you cant go wrong either way. This is a great little truck!

Thanks, went by the dealership yesterday to show the wife the colors and the differences between the trim/colors her favorites were the red, green and sand and she liked the lariat! So we're on the same page, she however will never go with me during the actual car buying process lol. Dealership has a lariat intransit due in 1-2 weeks in red with the tow package, so if after testing the hybrid I decide to not order one I will probably go with that. But will still get my employee pricing and vet discounts.

Think about getting a Maverick Lariat. Drive is considerably better than the XLT because of the better noise canceling windshield. Also, don’t sell the hybrid short and then kick yourself years later for not waiting 4 months from what you really want.

Is anyone aware of an in cab decibel test for the 25 models? I ask because I was worried about this issue, the no knob HVAC controls, the bigger LED screen being too bright and the supposedly $shitty XLT speakers after reading posts on here about the 22-24 XL/XLT's.
All of them have been non issues. HVAC controls are easy to adjust and always present, Synch 4 seems to provide more power to the XLT speakers and they don't sound bad at all, and I am not picking up a bunch of cab noise either. I don't usually drive faster than 75 so maybe that's it?

Living in Florida gives the hybrid a big advantage for gas mileage, due to the fact we have no hills to climb. A small camper will be fine with the awd hybrid. Get a ESP from Granger as most of us Floridans do, and you'll be a happy camper!

Pretty much, just like having that little extra power for towing and acceleration. Plus much longer wait for the hybrid. I put less than 8k miles a year so cost savings is neglible.
