I decided to take a huge risk tonight and disassemble the BCM assembly in the passenger footwell to see if it would be possible to cleanly install an auto dimming mirror and add adaptive cruise to my Maverick. To my surprise, every single fuse is populated with pins and they are direct connect to the PCB within the BCM. This is great since all of the unused fuse slots are connected and should be able to become live, but even better, nearly all of the pins on the harness connectors are populated and even the ones that aren't, have traces going to them and can theoretically be populated if needed. On the harness side there are a LOT of unpopulated pins where pins are present on the BCM itself. I have a hunch that it would be possible to add pins to the harness connectors and bam, OEM connections while adding missing features to the mav.
I am willing to deep dive this but I need community assistance!
Does anyone have access to wiring diagrams for the circuits that connect to the BCM, and also full pinouts w/ descriptions for the following harness connectors so I can get a full picture of what is going on:
J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J6, J7
That would be GREATLY appreciated. Mainly I believe the outputs I am looking for would be in J4, 5, or 6. If these harness connectors don't list the full pinout I can get a few different lariat lux builds for 23 with and without adaptive cruise and do the necessary comparisons.
I have been digging deep into the protocols and inner workings of the trucks electrical to see how far it can be pushed and decided to install a factory center console light after realizing all of the other lights share the same LIN line (on LIN bus 11) it was trivial to tap into that lin bus behind the panel and shoot that a 12v and ground to the console and now I have a factory light that dims properly and everything from the radio.
I am very excited about the possibilities as you may be able to control many other devices with the lin bus. I plan to experiment with an intercept to see if I can figure out which LIN node fires off a door open event so I can install puddle light projectors that dont need magnets, etc
