Schomp just told me that they're not accepting Z plan for Mavericks, and that all Mavericks are MSRP + $5000 market adjustment.
Yeah I'm not surprised...it seems like the only way to get a Maverick at MSRP was to order one. If it's a cancelled order or a dealer order it's almost guaranteed to be marked up, unfortunately.

Schomp service has failed too many times. After receiving a notice that parts for the airbag were available I scheduled and appointment with Schomp. I dropped it off yesterday and after keep the car all day today they sent me text at 3 in the afternoon that said we inspected your car and have order the airbags, we'll let you know when to come back and get them installed. I was told they would have tha part when I schedule the appointment two months ago. If they did not have the parts they should have re-scheduled or at least let me know when I dropped of the car that they could not do the work.

I will not describe the other failures I have experienced with Schomp but this was the last straw.

I am looking for recommendations for a Ford dealer in the Denver metro area (I am willing to go south to Castle Rock) that anyone has had success with. At this point I just need someone that will not waste my time.

4/26 Update Based on a recommendation from a co-worker I called another dealer to get my airbag recall work done. They took my information and let me know the airbags are back ordered and they do not expect to have a delivery before June. This is all I was looking for, a service department that I can talk to for 5 minutes and get an honest answer on what to expect. I have high hopes they will contact me when they have the parts and can do the work. I will update this post when the work gets done. Hopefully I have found a new service department.

5/15 Success I dropped my truck off at Groove Ford on Sunday night and got it back with new airbags this afternoon. It is sad that my expectations are so low but this service went very smoothly and I will be using Groove Ford for all my future service work and any future purchases.

I dropped my truck off Feb 15 also at Schomp and they told me they would order the airbag replacements and it would take 3-5 days to arrive. I’m still waiting for their call to bring truck back in

On the other hand there are quite a few people talking how their truck has rattles and or dirty headliners after the recall was done so I don’t know If I should rush to do it

Yes I have waited this long I will watch for a response on a better service department. They can’t all be this bad

If you could make the drive north, you could
stop at Longmont/Mike Marooned Ford. They did my recall work, with no issues.

So I have the dealer in
Just picked up my Maverick last week and quite impressed with it so far. Took it up to grandview with the family and carved the mountains like they were nothing and still managed 26mpg round trip.

only downside is I definitely need a cover for the bed. Those of you here with covers how have they held up with the rain and snow? If tested yet.
So I have the dealer installed ford 3 fold soft cover. Had about a year no complaints. Never garaged. Oh did I say I love my truck

My truck is a Texas transplant.
One more out- of -stater immigrant.
Bought it from a dealer in the 2nd largest state in the union. I love to rub that in.

I am a Colorado native though!

I have lived in Colorado for 30+ years, including on the western slope for a few of those. I’ve driven everything from small FWD cars to AWD Subarus, to 2WD trucks. I’ve driven over the mountains more times than I can remember.

The truth is that I always thought that I needed AWD more than I actually did. I can count the number of times that AWD was actually necessary on one hand, and they all could have been avoided with a little bit of forethought.

Good tires and driving skills matter more than the drivetrain. I bought a hybrid Maverick, and it was great last winter. I carry some tire chains in the event that my enthusiasm surpasses my judgement. Don’t skimp by driving on old crappy tires.

I do find it amusing that I see it way more AWD vehicles stuck in snowdrifts than I do anything else. For many, AWD seems to provide little more than an inflated sense of security.

All of that said, buy what you think you need. If you absolutely must drive through really heavy snow in a regular basis, AWD can make it easier and safer.
Same here on everything you said. I miss the native drivers of that time, most knew how to drive in inclement weather.

The only time AWD MAY really be needed is on a steeper slope in icy conditions when trying to start from a complete stop. CO roads never stay that way for long and are rarely allowed to get there in the first place.

I lived in Anchorage for 20 years and learned what really icy conditions are. The lower 48 is nothing. Several winters there were driven on a Honda FIT FWD. No problems at all. If the conditions were bad enough for that car to avoid driving then they were bad enough for everybody no matter what they were driving.

The one thing AWD owners seem to forget, or have no clue about, is that although they can start faster than FWD’s, they can’t STOP faster. Their cornering may not be any better either.

Driving well and safely in snow and ice is largely driver skill, not the vehicle.

My FWD Hybrid Mav will do just fine here in the winter.

Got mine last month from Schomp in Aurora at MSRP, got super lucky getting there before it even got off the transport truck and bought it that day. Usually hanging in the Lakewood area but drive all around.

Hey all,

I got the itch for one of these and started looking on Truecar. I found a white XLT in eastern Colorado but when I called, it has just sold.

I got a call from SilTerhar Ford in Broomfield asking what I was looking for. I told them I wanted an XLT with the Black Appearance Package and listed a few colors I didn't like and said I'd be interested in the rest.

Salesman jumped into the ordering system with his manager and spotted an incoming order they had in November that wasn't spoken for. Cactus Gray XLT AWD with BAP. It was around 33k MSRP.

I used to sell Fords in another life so I shot the shit with the salesman and the NCM in the tower over the phone and they agreed to sell it for MSRP or better depending on incentives at the time. I gave them $500 over the phone to hold it.

A month later, the salesman text me a VIN and told me it would be there on Friday. They got the PDI done and called and I went down after work and was in and out in an hour.

I planned on using the $1,750 available from Ford for military, first responder and recent college grad. Evidently, they won't stack 'em so I took the $750 college one and my own police credit union financing.

Overall I love it. Only has 150 miles on it but so far so good!

Good looking truck! Just acquired a cactus gray myself. THAT lighting really shows how this color "morphs" depending on the type of light, time of day , etc.. I love it!

BTW, I didn't realize this thread existed! Greetings from Gunnison! 👋
