I noticed that the rear right taillight doesn't have the running lights illuminate.

Getting the following code when using forscan.

Code B1539 - Right Rear Position Lamp Output

Additional Fault Symptom:
- Circuit Short to Ground

Status:
- DTC Present at Time of Request
-Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Body Control Module
Any ideas how to fix this or what may have caused it?

Replacing the bulb would be a good start, IMHO.

Would also be worth checking the circuit resistance to ground on the positive leg of the bulb socket in the process if the BCM is saying there's a short going on. Could be a chafed/pinched wire somewhere.

It’s the LED part of the taillight. No way to easily replace that. The other 3 bulbs work just fine

Since there was a comment about the spare tire getting chaffed I wonder if some of the trucks were not completely assembled when they rolled out.

Since "they" haven't been paying any of my truck payments, I guess the ESP I bought will come in handy if this becomes an issue with my XLT

Ah, sounds like warranty time.

(The multi-hundred dollar light assembly cost is overblown; LEDs rarely fail, they say. An ESP with bulb coverage is useless, they say.)
So one premature failure of the LEDs in one taillight on one truck is predictive of every LED assembly in use? Not really how that works.

You’re still far less likely to have issues with LEDs than you are to have issues with them.
