I was told because how close it is to 5000 pounds that I can get it reregistered to a class one in six months. I will definitely be doing that.

Did you ever get your registration changed? I'm dealing with the same PA issue. The registration fee is twice what my minivan costs.

Hey, you could use it to haul hay, or manure, or cabinetry. Not that you will, but you could. Most states bill you for what it is capable of, not what it does.

Illinois goes by letter code. We used to have a class A truck plate good for 6,000# Now they start at a B plate which is 8,000#. Then skips to D at 12,000# and F at 16,000#.

What's the impact of being class 2 vs class 1?

It depends where you live. In New York if you have commercial plates, you can't drive on parkways, or park overnight in a residential area. I lived on Long Island and had that problem.
