I am watching Tim from Long McArthur and he just clarified the situation with the 2025 Maverick 2.0 Ecoboost gas filter situation. He said it has been confirmed those 2.0 Ecoboost are 250hp. He said unless you order in a CARB state you will NOT get a gas filter. The gas filter is only being applied to the CARB state vehicles. He says Ford has informed them not to order the package with the gas filter unless you need it. It is a constraint item at this time. That may be a sigh of relief for a lot of people. Those of you who live in CARB states have my condolences. Tim says that starts in Job 3 in July.

I live in California and my LOBO is a J2 build. it does not have a GPF because they will not be installed until J3 . My question is, if they can sell it without the filter now why do they need to add it at all?

Emission compliance is not static. And it may be based on a companies average. Like the MPG requirements.
The requirements change annually.

I am sure the OEMs were given a timeline for compliance. I know there is a lot of stuff that gets much harder in 2027 so the OEMs are working hard and spending a lot of money to meet the much tougher rules. At least they know the rules changes are coming. Ford is stating on the scheduling updates that they are constrained for these vehicles that get the GPF right now. They are requesting customers drop the 50 states package if you live in a state that does not require it.

China and Europe pretty much drive these standards, CARB states basically adopt mostly the same rules. The direct injection gas engines are currently the dirtiest and most dangerous (human health wise) cars on the road due to the ultrafine <100nm particulate size they generate, much smaller than the particulate the old diesels generated in the pre-DPF days. The rest of the non-CARB states are similar to third world countries that have lower incomes and can't really afford clean air standards.

Does this mean in the future when some of these non CARB Mavs hit the used market if they don't have the filter they will dificult to "import" to a CARB state?

I'm in Cali but I bought my Mav used and from out of state via Carvana

one of the features of the MPC EB is the addition of port injection to go with direct injection. I'm sure this was done to make a cleaner engine.
