Has anyone changed the purge valve on your own? I've done this on my Escape with no problems, but my daughter got a quote from the local dealership for $800 to replace it in our Maverick. Seems pretty steep to me, but I'm not there. It has 53k miles, so well out of warranty.

I will be there with her briefly next weekend and will have a small window to try. They are in for $250 already for diagnostics, regardless - I don't want to have them pay that, then not be able to fix it and then have them pay again for the work.

I am having trouble confirming and finding the part, much less any video guides. I assume it's this...

Thanks!

PS - I thought/hoped we had 60k warranty or else I wouldn't have had them take it to a dealership.

I just went through this on a mazda 3 4 cyl. and the purge valve was cheap and easy to replace. Slow filling can also be an issue with the carbon canister which has its own valve, and is harder to access. The slow filling can issue is why you NEVER top off your tank after it clicks off. I hope someone with move direct experience chimes in. A poorly sealed gas cap is a frequent issue on the Mazda, so I am not sure how this relates to the capless Mav. system. Interested in the resolution to this, so please share the outcome.
