Ceramic front windshield tint ?

I have 3M Ceramic IR on one of my other cars and it helps, but not much more than carbon ceramic (regular tint). If I did it again, I would go with 3M Crystalline %70 or XPEL Prime XR Plus %70. I have %50 on my other car and it reduces nighttime visibility a decent amount.

The front windshield is the most expensive windshield to tint on any vehicle. I've received quotes for $150 for all the windows on a small 4 door sedan except the front windshield, and $250 for just the front windshield alone.

Apparently it has to be shrunk to the curve of the glass and is time consuming (but doesn't the rear windshield need to be shrunk also)?

It wont stop heat radiating onto your body from the warm parts of your car, just the beating rays from the sun. It wont make your car stay cooler when parked because the exterior of the vehicle will still get hot and that heat will radiate into the car.

But, when I'm driving head on facing the sun in 85+ degree temps, I only need to keep the AC on 1 instead of 2, 3, or 4 like before.

That's a great price if the shop offers a lifetime warranty. You also need to be very careful cleaning the inside of the front windshield while wearing jewelery (watch, bracelet, ring) as it is very easy to scratch the tint while wiping the glass.

I live in Florida and it still gets warm with a full ceramic tint all around plus windshield, but no where the piping hot heat where you can’t touch your steering wheel.

The best part is how quickly it cools down. So before I leave work where my truck bakes in the hot Florida sun all day I will remote start about 5-10 minutes before I leave. The truck is cool when I get into it.

Good info. Already got a massive chip/crack on the Acoustic glass but fixed same day. What brand do u recommend ? Local shop said the legal carbon is only good for 40 percent heat reduction -

They put Suntek on my Fusion, and it was flawless for 5+ years. The installer makes a huge difference though. The other brand that I read about was 3M, which has a stellar reputation.

I have side windows tinted but may tint the top 5" of the windshield. Seems to be legal everywhere....A little gun shy of full tint.

Just a FYI:
Driving cross country thru Iowa in a rental car last summer I was stopped by a friendly state patrol officer who presented me with a $138 ticket for too much tint on side windows. It was only 10% over the limit. Officer was prepared with a light meter. I was in a rental car so the rental car company reimbursed me for the ticket. If not corrected the officer said he thought the second ticket would double the first.

But Google shows the following states that do crack down on enforce tinting.
These states include California, Delaware, Rhode Island, New York, Michigan, Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, Washington DC, and New Jersey. Illinois and Texas have the most difficult car tint restrictions.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I thought the carpet dash covers were old school but it might be a necessity for Mav owners in warm states.

Likely not legal. In La cannot be stopped for illegal window film only fined after a moving violation. Most common way windshield gets tinted is get the inspection sticker then tint, remove and repeat every 1-2yrs OR find an inspection place that doesn't care.

I paid $179 to have my windshield done in SunTek Ceramic IR 70% with lifetime warranty. I like it. Visually, you would never know that it was there, no darkness or distortion.

Honestly, I have tinted my last 30 cars I have owned with both Ceramic 30% (yeah i know, dark) or regular 30%.

The ceramic should run you 150 to 225 ..most of the stuff we use here is Ceramic IR 3M film. I do like it because of the greater heat rejection, however, the increase thickness of the film tends to have a somewhat "milky/filmy-if thats a word" appearance to it. It isnt very pronounced, but it is, and some people think it distorts your visual acuity.

Now, with that said i do always tint my windshield, but just with regular 30% good 3M quality film. I live at 5900 ft and the sun going down over the mountains in Denver, well it is a sight to behold, or not.

it is an incredible upgrade if you dont want to go blind, it is wayyyyyyy better looking to.

As a former cop of nearly a decade, YES--it is illegal, however, if you dont drive like a douchenozzle the likelihood of getting contacted for this is very slim.
