Coming up to my first oil change, I guess between 900/1000 miles on a 2.0 EB. There is so much info floating around it boggles the 2 brain cells I have. I got some Castrol EDGE, 2 Dexos Gen2, SN PLUS, and a boat load of other specs that make no sense. And a WIX XP filter, 51348XP.

Will this do the trick? Planning next change around 3000 miles. Also Cannot find a dip stick for the 8-speed? Do I need to check ATF level?

Thanks for any advice in advance........ drive safe!

Yes, Wix makes a good product but the most important detail to consider with aftermarket oil filters is the bypass valve spec. Ford specs their oil filter with a very specific bypass pressure for the Ecoboost and since WIX is making a filter that could potentially fit many applications they may choose to design it for a different bypass pressure to be more applicable to a wider variety of applications. Your best bet is to figure out which filter Ford specs for the Maverick, figure out what the bypass specs are for that filter and find a good quality filter with the same or at least very similar bypass valve specs.

You do know this is a question that has no real answer.since all oil has to meet certian qualifications to be certified i doubt one is really any better than the nest.filters ,buy a filter company thats 30 years old or longer and i think you will be fine.SO,let the debate begin.

Not all oils are created equal especially in a relatively high compression turbocharged motor like the Ecoboost the op said they have. Some oils have a higher flash point, every motor operates different and some oils are much better suited to certain motors. The only way to find out is to get a used oil analysis done after an oil change to see if the oil you chose is working well in your engine. Your post is kind of old school oil ideology, the Ecoboost is a far different and more oil sensitive motor than a small block Chevy motor from yesteryear.

Very good replies from all here. I guess changing oil is not rocket science so I will hope for the best with what I got. I watched some UT and they say WIX is a good filter. Been using Castrol for a long time and nothing blew up yet, knock on wood.....

Just wanted to know what others were using and their thoughts. I love my Mav yet would never buy anything associated with Ford again due to some recent wonderful experiences at a dealership and Guanine Ford parts I have bought.

Thank all of you that replied..... Drive safe !
