Sorry people but it’s a little different than the usual. Any of my fellow Canadians use Great Canadian Oil Change company for your oil and filter changes? And if so, good or bad experiences? Thanks.

I have and continue to use a Great Canadian Oil Change location here in Winnipeg on Portage Avenue.

I would give them two thumbs up for their service. Friendly, fast etc.

I use them for my 2017 class b camper van, and they have met all my needs as in proper oil, filter etc.

As in most quick oil change places, they will track your vehicle for you in that their computer will tell them when your other fluids etc should be changed but they aren't pushy about it.

Always ask to see the air filters before replacing any, to verify that they are dirty and need changing... but this is standard for ALL oil change places I would think.

As well, know ahead of time if you need windshield wipers or not...a good look at them after cleaning (yes, i do clean my wipers occasionally!) And you will know if they are nicked, damaged, cracking etc when you run your fingers gently along them.

I change my own wipers at a lower cost, but if they do offer to check them and I have had them replaced when out on the road as it was convenient. I now carry a spare set in all our vehicles.

That reminds me, I need to do another oil change before we head out again...thanks for the reminder!

I would imagine all sites are independently owned so maybe check your local shops on-line reviews for the one you are thinking of visiting.

I hope this helps,

Andy

Thanks so much Andy, will consider them. Just curious as to how they would re & re the cover that has to be taken off to access drain plug and filter. Don’t want them all stripped and only 3 holding it on. 🤣 And to the rest, unfortunately I can’t do it myself anymore, done it for 45 years and loved it but age and medical reasons, oh well! Thanks again!

I am in the same boat, so I hear you. No belly cover on the van so no problem there.

I just had my first oil change/service on my 2025 done at my dealer.

With the extended service times for our trucks as we use synthetic oil, etc I don't mind using the dealers Fastlane to do my work.

They know the belly panel is there, should have the right tools and experience to remove and install it properly. That said, I will be checking the work to make sure they haven't obviously messed anything up.

And I already bought nice, brightly coloured replacement hardware (red, I think) if and when needed to reattach the panel.

The benefit of this is that if there are any issues going forward...well...they are the ones that have done the servicing for me....but I am hopeful to not have any problems.

Have a nice one,

Andy

I’ve had one oil & filter change by dealer, no complaints. Just weighing my other options. 24 EcoBoost with only 6k kilometres on it. OLM now says 25% left so I’m going to get it done by dealer one last time. They only offer Semisynthetic, I’d like full! 😉

Hmmm, that is what I would say is "odd".

Semi-synthetic oil only? I made sure I confirmed synthetic oil only for my truck and was reassured they only use synthetic or semi-synthetic...according to what is needed.

Especially as a (Ford, I am assuming) dealer that is so odd...I would confirm that is indeed true, or maybe the service specialist was new?

I know in Europe I used to bring in my own synthetic oil (I confirmed with the shop that it was okay...I had a 2004 Jeep Liberty at the time, and they made their coin on many, many other items).

I brought the oil, they did the work. It was a grest little community sales and repair shop.

I am not saying that this is what you should try, just that there are ways to get the job done the way you want...and we want our trucks to be well maintained. :)

What ever you do, keep your receipts indicating mileage etc, just in case.

Cheers,

Andy

That’s another thing. I go to my account on Ford.ca and can’t find anywhere to add the receipts or work I’ve had done to my Mav outside of the dealership. Odd!

My wife used them for her Fiat 500. The oil filter is crammed into the engine bay and needs an articulated socket wrench. No problems.

Ask to see their technicians. Avoid the pimply 18 year old and the grey bearded 60 year old. Go for someone in their 30s...

I would imagine they only enter/track work done at a certified Ford dealership that is connected to their network...my app just updated as to the service preformed on last Tuesday.

I don't implicitly trust anything... ;-) so I have my hard copy filed in my cabinet, in a clearly labeled folder. Any problems, you have your receipts.

I've only used Mr. Lube before. They were a bit pushy but all I wanted from them is the oil change and free wipers... My Mav (25) goes to Ford only. At least until the warranty expires then we'll see. Good luck!
