Hey Mavericks! Question for you all. My XL Ecoboost AWD has a "slippery mode" . I'm aware that this is for snow and icy conditions. Can this mode be used while driving in active rain conditions? Kind of like " locking " it in AWD and not waiting for the "intelligent AWD " system to go into affect? I don't want to used it this way if it would tear up the trans or other components.

From what I've read, slippery mode is great for rain but more importantly it gets you the best mileage. Even better than eco mode. There was a discussion on this forum. Very interesting read. I use it exclusively on my F150 powerboost in wet or dry conditions.

That was in the context of the Hybrid powertrain because it reduces how much off-throttle regen is applied which makes coasting more efficient.

I've noticed that slippery mode will keep you in a higher gear and reduce throttle input. But it also will activate the AWD more often, especially on hills, so I'm not sure if it's actually all that helpful to increase mpg.

I've never used it for rain, but it seems to help a bit in the snow, at least at cruising speeds. For deep snow, i just use normal mode, so I can spin the wheels a bit more if I need to.
