I have the same cover, and noticed that you just have to push it over the rivet heads. There's a slight snag, but it will go over them. I found it to be helpful, as it kind of holds the slider in place, and then you can push the rod into the groove.

Northern VT, picked mine up from Bokan Ford last Wednesday (the 21st) XLT with FX4. So far I’ve added the all weather mats and a spray in bedliner. Tonneau cover should be in next week, and snow tires went on this morning! Picture is from last week, right when I got home with it.
