I'm obsessed with the maverick and I really want to keep it but my current car is paid off and still chugging.

I was thinking about selling it but my father-in-law is trying to shop for a new vehicle and he is interested.

Can he finance and assume my order or would I have to buy it and then sell it to him.

I'm scheduled for production in August.

Thanks so much for your help.
You could co-sign with him and transfer later. How close are you? Talk it over with the dealer.

What I would suggest is that you give your father-in-law limited power of attorney for all aspects of the purchase, registration, financing of this particular truck. That way legally the dealer is dealing with you.

I am now working out of state and I have been scheduled. I have also informed my salesmen that when it is delivered I will either be there or my wife will be there with power of attorney to take care of the transaction.
My thought is the cost is getting that document would be worth the risk of losing the truck.

note: I am not an attorney. I don’t play one on tv and i have not stayed at a holiday inn.

I ordered two Mavericks, one for a friend who was down on her luck and needed reliable transportation for her and her children. I also ordered my Lariat. I signed the deal for both of them and paid the deposit back in November of 2021.

She was quick to get back on her feet and we decided it was best for her to assume the order intended for her. The dealer, Jim Tidwell Ford, had no problem with this. I think the buyer protection is allocated by E-Mail. In any event, she got the price protection on "her" order and I got the price protection on mine. She did her deal in March-May 23 and mine took until June 23.

Most States allow a transfer of vehicle registration between family members with no sales tax.

Up to you who buys the vehicle. I'd let whoever gets the price protection do the deal and then transfer it however you see fit. If your dealer has a friendly finance office just call and stop buy. They'll know the limits of what they can do to sell a car.

The deal is between the dealership and you - not him.
I do agree it depends on the dealer.
If they will sell it to him for your agreed on MSRP or just take it and sell it that day for $10,000 over pure proifit is up to them.
Good luck with that.

If he gets a loan prior to it and you pay cash then give him the title
