Just got my notification that the truck will be built in 2 weeks but I ordered last fall and have since bought a vehicle that my wife says I can't trade in for the mav. Am I able to sell it directly to someone without it going into my name first? These things are going for 10k over msrp in my area and the dealer said they're not marking mine up. I'd rather not pay all the registration and taxes on it just to turn around and sell it and I don't want the dealership knowing about the deal at all. Sorry if it sounds like a lowly thing to do but it's me or the dealership getting the markup and I could really use some extra cash right now.

Not really possible. You can ask the dealer if they are interested in keeping your order for some reasonable profit on both sides. Otherwise, you'll have to do all the normal purchase and selling stuff.

You have to pay sales tax and sell it. As for registration, you would only owe for the weeks you owned it. If you paid registration for a year that would all be refunded to you after you sell it. You can still make a substantial amount of profit.

IMO, not worth the time and hassle to try and flip it. I'm in CO too, don't forget we have to go to Motor Vehicle department to pay huge fees based on MSRP AFTER we've already paid for the truck separately at the dealer. If you're short on ca$h already it may not make $sen$e in the end.

I thought if you get a 30 day transport tab like you live out of state, you have 30 days to register and pay sales tax in that state? During those 30 days couldn’t you sell it and never have it registered in your name?

Technically you don’t need to register it. You do have to pay sales tax though.

Im heavily debating selling mine. I’ve already found a buyer willing to pay me $7k over MSRP. Which would be around $6 profit after taxes since I’m not paying full MSRP. This is 100 percent worth it to me and most people that like money.

Agreed. We just accepted an offer from Carvana for $32,700 - $10,125 over MSRP - for our 22 XL EB. Didn't buy it to resell it, but that's hard to say no to.

Getting technical. Check your state some label it as "sales AND use tax". If you buy it but do not use it you might qualify for a rebate. Might have to document each and every mile you put on it and only have very very few miles put on it during your few days or weeks of ownership. ???
