My daughter's car seat is on one side so if i want to access the under storage area I have to fully remove it.

Curious if anyone has altered the bench to make it split?

Looking it over, there are only 2 seat hinge/latches. One on each side. I don't think you'd be able to split the bench without fabricating 2 additional hinges for what would become the inboard edge.

Pondering the same thing....might build my own seat or modify stock one once my truck arrives in 2025.... :)
Hopefully the midcycle refresh happens by then and Ford includes stuff like a 60/40 seat.

I learned a long time ago that, if at all possible, one should hold out buying a Ford until the midcycle refresh.

maybe focus groups decided having the unique under seat storage was a better option if Ford could only do 1 or the other on this low end vehicle?

A 60/40 seat is the #1 thing that Ford could do for little or no cost and make the MY23 a better truck. There are lots of little things that could be done to improve the Maverick, but the lack of a split seat is almost unforgivable in a vehicle marketed to young families (and old guys with grandkids).

what gives you the idea there would be "little or no cost"? You can assume if that were true Ford would have done that. My best guess is they would have to redesign the whole rear seat section of the tub including eliminating the underseat storage. It's not all about catering to people with car seats and you have plenty of other choices if that is your #1 priority in buying a vehicle.

This and not having the seatback fold flat are two huge oversites... I don't have kids so the 60/40 split on the bench doesn't matter too much to me, but having the seatback fold flat would be great for my dog or storing interior items that I don't want scuffing up the seats.
