Buy OEM bed tie down system

Order the hitch or you'll find you won't get the trailer wiring... A few forum members had that issue with their '22 models and it was apparently a big PITA.
A big expense as well. I was one of those that had picked up a Maverick w/o a hitch that a customer canceled. It doesn’t come with a wiring harness. I bought a Curt wiring harness for a Bronco Sport and the OEM hitch receiver from Ford parts. With installation at a trailer shop, I paid over $650. It was all very frustrating…and expensive!!!

This is an easy DIY project and ford even made a video about it.

search for this on amazon: L track

You will need to buy rails and studs, drill holes big enough for M8 screws. Cut the rail to the correct length. FAR cheaper to DIY than buy OEM.

On the L Track, I was looking at that. How hard was it to do the counter sink? I was concerned the bits designed for it wouldn't be able to fit. And a size larger bit is fairly imprecise when working on something that is holding cargo while moving.

The key is not to obsess about perfection. 🤣 If they stick out a little why worry? Just countersink them a little bit and decide you don't care.

I would have used hex head bolts but you can't get a socket into the space because some of the screw holes will be in the narrow part. If you can't mount a stud in that exact position so what?

Would a panhead screw not interfere with it sliding? That's really my only concern. I'm not worried about it being completely flush except for functionality

Not sure about the rail system, but my dealer said most of the options I wanted (hitch and floor mats) could be ordered from the parts department at the dealer or online, and they recommended to do it just to limit constraints. You should be able to get that installed or at least ordered at the dealer after your bed liner.
I would rethink the hitch.not as easy to put on as a regular hitch and its 100$.i dont think it will hold your order up but thats a guess.read up on it here before you decide.🤓

Should just be standard equipment. A truck without a hitch isn't really a truck

The studs don't slide. You pick the spot you want them to be and they kind of twist on. You have to completely remove them to move them around but it's extremely simple to do so.

You won't get the correct wire harnesses for the 4 pin trailer connector if you don't order the hitch built into the truck. Also the dealer is most likely going to have to bolt the hitch to the truck. The factory installed hitch is welded.

If you buy 8 tie downs for each hole that will work just as well as the sliding rail system. That is what I did on mine. The threaded holes if I remember correctly are 8mm x 1.25. It should cost around $30 for the tie downs and metric bolts.

False information.

The OEM hitch receiver is available through Ford parts. The hitch receiver is $336.

Ford OEM Hitch Receiver

The wiring harness is for a Ford Bronco Sport and can be installed on the Maverick.

Ford Bronco Sport 4-pin Wiring Harness from Etrailer

There are many discussions on installing the hitch receiver and wiring harness. I am one of those that had it done on the Maverick XL I had.

Yes but it is bolt on not welded when you add it afterwards. Yes but the wiring and harness is not standard, you also and I don't know if you can simply tap off the tail light wires that the IPC knows that a trailer is connected. The IPC needs to know that for the sway control and tow haul mode when a trailer is hooked up to work correctly.

Again, false information on the OEM hitch receiver. I went through all that with the ordering of the original OEM hitch receiver and 4-pin wiring harness.
The hitch receiver is welded on the crash bar just as it is at the factory. It IS NOT bolted on. IT IS welded onto the crash bar. IT IS the same bar, hitch receiver as used at the factory. I tell facts, not opinions of what you think it is. And NO, the wiring is NOT tapped in. I’d highly recommend you go research before stating opinions. This process has been discussed in great detail here. And all is based on research and facts from those of us that actually own Mavericks.
