Hey all, new to these forums, just bought a Certified used 2022 XLT AWD, only had 7500 miles on it, if you had it before me I will take great care of it. I am now trying to figure out how best to move (2) 10’ kayaks. Looking for a temporary easy to put in rack kind of thing. I had a home made wooden rack for my 2011 Ranger that was sadly totaled in a minor accident, no one was hurt. I was hoping to “modify” the wooden rack, but there are no bed stake pockets. So I have been going through the “engineering” process and today I was mocking up some ideas. As I was cleaning up, I looked at this Gorilla Work Platform that I used to get in and out of the bed. Wheels started turning, so I tried it, and behold …. It fits perfectly. Now of course it would need to be tied down somehow, and then some upper rail system added, and so on. I just thought I would share this just in case there is anyone else out there looking for something fully temporary. I would think if you put two of these on the bed, instant ladder rack. Then on the job site you actually have two platforms with you as well. Just though I would share the idea. Hope it helps someone. Off to search the forums for more ideas. Thanks all.

We have hauled a couple of Hobies short distances with the gate down and a rope to the rack on the Maverick - se pic to the left. I do have cross bars for the rack that we could use. Perhaps a better solution is the extender that goes into the 2" receiver and has a support to the rear of the tailgate. Getting the boats up on an overhead rack is a trick for young bucks - and I no longer qualify, lol.

That looks like an accident waiting to happen if you want my opinion.
