Any thoughts on this? These pictures are from my Honda CR-V . I’m thinking of taking off the roof trim on the Maverick and bolting these aluminum channels to the roof seam. Then cut openings in the roof moulding for the landing pads to stick through. Seems like a stronger anchor point and cleaner looking. Feedback appreciated.

So would anyone happen to know what the gap is between the sheetmetal seam on the roof (Under the black roof strips) to the top of the black strips? I'm leaning toward what I have on my honda in the above pictures. Basically the Thule TK1 foot bases would stick thru the black roof trim and be mounted to aluminum channel that is bolted to the roof.
