I myself have already called my dealer of choice. I told them i would place an order on fords site Aug 15th 12:01 am. Then that morning go to dealer to finalize order and put down a refundable deposit of 500. He was unaware at the time of the August 15th date. He asked me were I got that I said online and he laughed. he was sales manager. Not sure they have any regular sales people left.
Oh I am on his list if one becomes available but he said doubtful

Anyone see a problem with this?

You mean Granger received 56 Mavs this month? That's good to know.
VINs to be scheduled...none currently with a week remaining.

i too have never bought a build on line. I was practicing with ordering a 22 ranger on line
I built it. Then response said "see internet prices". a form came up for me to fill out.
having no experience what comes up next after i fill out requested info from the local dealer (btw, ft lauderdale, fl). Is that what LANDRIC was referring to when he said "fill out the order form".
You cannot order a vehicle from Ford yourself, at least not at present, the dealer has to do it. I didn't use the words "fill out the order form." You can go on Ford's website and "build and price" the vehicle you want. Then you take that information to your selected dealer and they enter the order for you into Ford's system. In theory, you then get an email confirming that order. I say "in theory" because Ford does not have the best track record of sending emails and the dealers sometimes enter your email address incorrectly or the person entering the order at the dealer enters their email instead of the customer's email.

At this time no one is sure exactly what, if anything, will change for the 2023 model. Ford will send out an "Order Guide" to dealers for the 2023 model year. Hopefully this will occur before the day the 2023 order banks open. However, there is apparently a history of Ford failing to send out order guides before opening order banks to dealers. So who knows?

Basically, determine basically what you want to order based on the 2022 model and then tweak it if there are changes for 2023 that you want or if something you wanted in 2022 becomes unavailable.

This whole process is probably way more complicated than it needs to be, but it is what we are stuck with until Ford changes it.

For me:

1. Will sell me the Maverick at MSRP when it comes in. No games, no hassles.
2. No deposit, refundable or otherwise. This is a personal decision, though. For me, I have resigned myself on waiting close to a year and that is too long for someone to be sitting on a chunk of my change. Too many things can happen over a year, especially at my age.
3. The dealer FULLY understands, that yes, one can lock in pricing and Ford financed interest rates at time of ordering. They just need to know how to handle the paperwork or computer data entry. FordVideoGuy covered this at the beginning of Episode 44 and even showed how the salesperson needs to enter the data to make that happen. Come armed with all the info at your disposal. Leave nothing to chance,
4. Does the dealer even know that currently the ordering for MY23 starts on August 15? I found one that did not. See you later. If they do not at least know the basics, then I cannot expect them to know the more involved aspects of the transaction. Walk away.
5. Pray.
Ordered from a local Super Ford dealer- Told me upfront they would sell the Maverick for dealer invoice and they kept that promise- I was sweating bullets for 9 months in regards of talk about last minute ADMS, oops we accidently sold your vehicle and or lack of price protection -

It was a game of whack-a-mole with the folks at the dealership, vague answers, good info, then would go dark for a three weeks at a time but in the end it worked ! Might want to look at a bigger dealer with more allocations - Not really believing the first in/first out plan Ford threw out there a couple months back-And I bet Hybrids will be even more scarce for MY23- With battery shortages and gas prices..

Good luck -

ok, I was wrong. i said "order form" not
"order guide". But i do thank you for the info.
I just want to narrow down the dealer based upon will they honor msrp, and no other
tricks of trade so increases prices. I don't know if they will tack on some administrative fees.
So I hope if i sent emails this week to dealers in my area with those questions, they will
give honest and frank answers.
I don't want to go in to 5 or 6 dealers with the paper work after the build. I want up front info.
Maybe that info. will come fourth from a "order form", but i would lie to find out earlier

Well, if not a problem, it would give me pause and I would most likely walk, but that is just me. I tend to not have tolerance for people who do not know things that their trade dictates that they should.

I am sure they have quite a list. However, Tim has said multiple times in his videos that they are not going to hold people's spots and wait for them to put in an order before moving on to people that have done the paperwork and have everything ready to go the day the order banks open. The way the system works is LM will put in orders when the bank opens for everyone who has done the process. How many people are ready to go the day the order banks open is really dependent on when the order guides come out. If the order guides are available a week or two before the order banks open LM will probably have a lot of orders ready to submit day one. If the order guides come out the same day or the day before the order banks open then LM will likely have a lot of people on the list who haven't finalized when they are able to start entering orders.

In short, put your name on the 2023 list with Tim. LM is a large dealership that has sold a lot of Mavericks. They should do pretty well with allocations for 2023. Be ready to finalize your order as soon as the order guides appear so LM can enter it day one. Even being far down the list you will probably end up ahead of a lot of people who put their name on the list before you but didn't move quickly once ordering was available.

ETA: I can also tell you from experience that if you need help or to change something you can get Tim on the phone and/or via email quite quickly. He and LM are extremely responsive and helpful. I'm in NC (I lived in Kansas City for almost six years) and I'm willing to travel out there to pick up a Maverick.

That's what I did. I wasn't sure that my local dealer here in the greater Houston area was intimately familiar with the ordering process, so I'm going with LM. Spoke to "Dan" there. Super nice.
