Hey everyone, new guy here. I thought I'd post a thread on how to fix the problem of the drop-in liner pulling away at the cab so that it doesn't keep happening.

I installed the drop-in modular liner a couple months ago. I followed the directions and left sticking the 2-sided tape at the front until last.

When I was ready to stick it I realized there was going to be a problem because there was a lot of bowing out at the top of the cab.

I didn't want to tear it back apart, crossed my fingers and pulled the tape, pressed the heck out of it but really knowing it was gonna come off later.

It started lifting in a couple weeks and then completely came loose from the top trim piece--not the body which I had cleaned with alcohol.

Sooo...
I put off fixing it until I had a plan. Fixed it today. I got all the 2-sided tape off the cab--a major pain of picking at it.

I then cleaned the residue off with V&M Naptha which doesn't harm the paint. You can also use mineral spirits.

After removing the liner I took the trim piece and bowed it into a U-shape using my porch deck boards to hold it overnight. *sorry no pics*

I then roughed the back of it since it was where the tape turned loose, cleaned it with Naptha, and stuck 3M VHB 5952 tape on it.

I took the bowed out cab side liner and heated it with my butane torch frequently feeling of the plastic to test the temp.

When it felt too hot to touch I would bend it inward towards the way it would contact the cab.

I worked it until it had a nice bow inward so it would press towards the cab instead of bowing away from it.

I test fitted and reheated and bent it several times before I was satisfied it was sitting tight against the cab.

I finally put it back together and put a bead of polyurethane adhesive on the cab below where the 3M tape contacts it before pressing it. May be overkill but I plan on leaving this liner in for the truck's life.

I hope this helps those with similar problems. I feel like that cab side piece will keep pulling loose until it actually fits right. I'm sure some are probably fitted well but for those that arent this should fix it permanently.

One of the reasons I only use spray in bed liner.

If I had to do it over again I’d probably do spray in from the factory. But at the time I didn’t want to add any constraints.
