I bored three 2" holes in a 2 X 6 then had the 2 X 6 sprayed with a heavy coat of black bed liner. The bed liner spray cost me $75 a bit pricey but it matches the Ford sprayed liner.

I couldnt leave mine alone either, I burned them with a torch and applied 3 coats of varnish.
