Bed rug

With all the talk of spray in expense and availability, and the bed mat and drop in unavailability, anyone considering the bed rugs? I’ve never had one. I have had a bare bed, no issues except it was really scratched up (it’s a truck, who cares) had a drop in bed liner, was awesome and didn’t affect the bed in any way, but was extremely slippery. And I had a diy rustolium liner, lasted 100k miles except a few chips from dropping blocks…and was ugly, I’m no painter!
My reluctance to the rubber bed mat is, I have an suv with a rubber mat, tried sliding a toilet in and it just didn’t!
Any thoughts on the rugs?

Does using wood dividers work with this?

I had the full bed rug in a 2014 Ram and really liked it. The only downside is that they can start to fray with a couple of stints of heavy use (moving appliances and furniture). The upside is that large heavy things do slide quite easily, which makes them a lot easier to load and unload. The $200 impact liner is probably the first thing I will add to the Mav.

That’s exactly what I was hoping for with this liner. Just enough grip to hold things in place but able to still slide for loading/ unloading. Gonna order mine this week

This may be a silly question but can I still use the slots designed to hold 2 X 4's to transport my bike or do the ridges get covered to where you can't do that?

I have a rubber bed mat in my Nissan Frontier and encounter the same problem. I found that I need to slide items around more than I thought. I ended up laying some poster board on top of the bed mat, which allows items to slide right across.

Any thoughts on the rugs?

I had one in one of my F-150s. In my experience, they are the way to go if you're only ever going to haul household goods. Basically anything that you wouldn't mind hauling in the trunk of a sedan.

If you're going to haul stuff that's dirty/greasy/wet/might leak something, I'd opt for a drop-in bed liner. They will still let items slide around fairly easily and with minimal/no damage, but they can be mopped/hosed/swept clean much easier than a bed rug. Drop-ins are also more stain-resistant than a spray-in, and arguably more impact-resistant.

Drop-ins do get slippery when wet, but the bed rug getting wet was worse because it would take a long time to dry out.

I once loaded some sandy beach stuff in my F-150 with the bed rug and felt like I spent the next year getting most of the sand out.

My F-250 had Line-X and my current Nissan Frontier has a factory spray-in. Personally, I'm not a fan because of the need to slide things around. The spray-ins are like coarse sandpaper. They are also harder to keep clean because dirt/debris/stains cling to that sandpaper texture.

But I see how they'd be useful for others, such as if you have an open bed or live in the rust belt. Spray-ins keep the drain holes functional, whereas a drop-in covers them up.

Fantastic response, I’m just so torn. As I mentioned originally, the only thing I haven’t had is the rug. I was 90% sure I was getting that until you said the killer, sand. We go to the beach a lot. May be an issue.
