I have a 2022 XL and have both bed cubbies to install. I have a Bullet liner install scheduled in 2 weeks. Should I install the cubbies before it goes in for spray in liner or wait until after. I am unfamiliar with what gets taped off before they spray the liner. Thanks.

Hi all, I’m new to the Club and was getting ready to post a similar question so if it’s permitted I’ll ask about it in this thread. Have a 2022 XL and want to get a spray in bed liner.
Any recommended modifications etc before I get it sprayed? Currently have the 4 tie down points in bed.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

If you have tie-downs in hand keep them there. Most any good SIBL dealer will have to remove them before SIBL. Whatever is not removed will be covered with the liner material. But do note, screwing anything in through the bedliner is hard. I saw it coming and ask my SIBL dealer to agree to install the tie-down hooks I had in hand and he agreed and did 4 hooks on each side of the bed, at no charge after installation of SIBL was sprayed and still hot, 10 minutes MAX.

It takes a very powerful drill and a "short" adapter to get the bolts driven thru the bedliner. I would have had to buy a drill in the $150+ range to get them thru the bedliner material. Cubby lids you do probably want them installed but not the nut heads if you'll be taking them out...my Linx dealer understood and taped my cubby cover bolt heads off.

Definitely not a good idea to try to drill out the bedliner material over a bolt hole or you may screw up the bolt thread for whatever size you have, it's easy to mess up the pre-drilled holes. I checked my SIBL dealer to make sure he knew what to take off or cover up...my guy had done 20 mavericks and had one order for himself.

Hmmm, I was looking at the pre drilled holes and was thinking maybe the spray guy would put some bolts in there while spraying to keep them from getting gunked up.
That’s got me thinking of whether they’ll remove the factory tri fold soft tonneau cover when they spray it.
Anyone take theirs off yet ? Looks like it’s 2 clamps on the side rails but I didn’t actually try to take it off.

Coordinate with your SIBL installer first as these guys have the experience. But as said before it wouldn't sound good to spray the bolt holes. I face the same situation if I ever get my Maverick as will be getting the LineX spray in

The cubby covers are wider than the actual cubbies. I added a cubby to my XLT and had to buy a can of DIY Berliner spray to cover the difference (took longer to shake then can than apply). It was only 1/8 to 1/4 inch, I believe, but the paint was very noticeable before the touch-up

Like others have said take all you plan on installing to where you are getting the work done. A reputable place will work with you. to make sure it gets done right.

Well that’s annoying!

I got the cubbies well after the spray in liner was added. At this point they are installed with just the four bolts and it appears i will have to drill out the other holes later. Just too cold to worry about it no and the four bolts are holding them in just fin, but I have nothing inside them beyond s bungee cords.

You shouldn’t have to drill out holes later, unless they sprayed over them while doing the bed liner. The 2 extra holes per cubbie are already there and they are threaded.
I have an XL and installed the cubbies on each side with 6 bolts in each, no problem.

Thanks, it is the truck and the holes that were covered by the SIBL so I will need to drill them out at some point. The cubbies themselves are just fine.

I'd install everything before getting the lining.
