Bed camper ideas.

Has anyone figured out a bed camper, or build one, that will work in the maverick? I imagine building one in the 800 pound realm should be possible.

The owners manual does not recommend using a slide in camper.

Put a capper on it with a sleeping bag and sleep catty corner or buy a small pod trailer .

I am finishing a build for my Maverick. To take advantage of avaiable space, it is a drop in instead of a slide in. I will get an accurate weight on tuesday but I am expecting under 400 lbs. It is made of Filon fibreglas and styrofoam. A rear slide out gives about 7 feet of interiour space. I have a thread about it on this forum.

I've been pending not-apartment space to build, but I've had a 4 part folding leaf in my head which sort of blends the Aliner and Anti-shanty designs into a popup camper. 1x2"/1"x3" steel frame, alumaplast panels, XPS foam fill.

If my math is done right, I think it will land in the 400-500lb range or lower. The design goals were to have a popup camper usable within the footprint of the truck, and be below 6'-6"-7', so to be able to park comfortably in any parking deck. Secondary benefit of this would be reduced air resistance. Single person, basic electrical requirements.

I’m working on one now that you might be interested in. My current prototype folds flat at about 2 1/2” in thickness so that you can still use the bed of the truck and the front and back sides will have zippered fabric coverings. With the design… in order to lay down fully you’d have to leave the tailgate down and pull out the smaller extension piece and shift one of the fabric faces to the other Velcro position. Eventually I’ll add windows and other things as well and get the build quality to be a bit better. Let me know what you think so far.
