So, I was comparing the remedy notes between the engine fire recall and the brake light recall.

Brake light one is straight PCM flash of less than an hour. The potential engine fire one mentions parts for the other models involved, but doesn’t explicitly mention it for the Maverick. But the time says a half day to perform the repair. Also a PCM flash.

A part of me wonders if the one update would have a conflict with the other one and if the shop could mess up by performing in the wrong sequence. But I have to feel that the half day part of the recall could be that there is an actual set of part(s) involved.

anyone with knowledge of any actual parts involved?

I had the recalls done yesterday. On my receipt, the only parts needed were for the airbag recall.

It's all in the reports Ford gave to the NHTSA, which was posted here a few months ago. It's just a software update.

Hmmm. Then why would it say a half day? To throttle the impact to service departments?

There aren't really individual patches just for that issue within the module so it's not like there's an install order. Rather they just update the module(s) affected to the latest firmware version.

As for the labor times, are you going by the labor hours in the Ford to Dealer documentation or the approximate time in the letter to owners? The latter is less precise.

The recall documentation to the dealer has billing labor times. (although book labor time doesn't strictly always follow actual time to complete, for better or worse)

There are no parts require for the Maverick.

Only 23 Escape/Corsair require parts because the engine population for those is small enough Ford is just replacing the engine long blocks rather than develop the engine failure detection routine. Source
