Big shout out to the Ford representative that is on here that asked me to reach out. And even a bigger shout out to Allencia S. who works with Ford and has been emailing me back and forth since I posted this. They have listened to my complaints and responded accordingly. Most of which were directly towards the dealership and not as much the truck itself. They have also made things right in my eyes and have restored my faith in Ford customer service. Thank you again for your assistance and generosity. I now have peace of mind that if anything happens for as long as I own this truck that it wont cost me an arm and a leg and that I can continue to own my maverick for the life of my loan and hopefully pass this on to my children which was always my plan.
Do you still have the burning rubber smell or did you find the problem?
Did Ford representatives helped you solve the smell problem?
On my side, the winter is back then the burning rubber smell is back with it.

Is it possible that the problem comes from a defective catalytic converter that overheat? Ihad this problem in old days with a Ford E450 V10.

6 times at the same dealership or have you had anyone else attempt to diagnose it?

Through my investigation over the web trying to help the mechanics to figure it out, I found that:
Ford Maverick AWD Fault, rear differential needing to be replaced 1734058994476-xk

I think that it is possible that the injection system detect the catalytic converter begins to be dirty and initiate a cleaning cycle by modifying the air / fuel ratio to heat up the catalytic converter in order to clean it.

I didn't note the frequency of that burning rubber smell but it's around every 300miles and as you said mostly in cold weather, where the catalytic converter might have tendency to stay cooler and / or have more tendency to clog.

Do you think it's possible?

On the rubber smell, does your truck have the spray in bed liner? I have the same thing with mine, only on wet days, or when the truck gets wet from road spray. I'm thinking during the application some of the bed liner has dropped onto something that gets hot but not hot enough to burn it off, everytime it gets rehydrated by wet spray you get the smell, that my theory only yet to be proven, and I have yet to find the cause in 3.5 years. It doesn't seem to affect anything just annoying.

RDU issues has been reported at the BS Forum as well. Changing the RDU fluid seem to be the easiest way
