After reviewing many posts about auxiliary braking systems it seems that the vast majority of folks have had problems with brakes locking up unnecessarily. Has anyone decided NOT to install a braking system, or install one...and disable it or turn pressure way down so it will only work in an emergency? I know the law and common sense require supplemental braking systems, so I understand the risks... it's just a hypothetical question.

I installed the Demco Stay in Play system and had lockup issues. Not only was it skidding all 4 tires but it was stopping the RV. That would set their fake inertia control switch to stay on.The 60 psi coming from the pump was just to much to control.

I bought a simple adjustabe air pressure regulator with gauge, and installed it in the air line after the pump. Set it around 25 psi and the system started working as it should.

Good to know. I'll plan on getting the adjustable regulator as well. Thank YOU!

Get a RVIBrake 3 or RVIBrake Shadow...It has a setting for electric/Hybrid brakes and wont lock them up.

Thank you so much for the info!
I installed Stay-n-play and had brake lockup up issues with it.
Ended up dialing the inertia controller down to just about nothing but panic stop activation for our first trip with it.
After reading your post I contacted Demco customer service. They offer a pressure regulator (from AndyMark) that they preset to 40psi for you, as they consider this optimal setting for Maverick for about $50 (plus shipping).
I opted to order directly from AndyMark - just received the pressure regulator and will install it next week. They were responsive and shipped very quickly - it cost me about $60 incl. shipping for the regulator with a built in pressure gage.
Thanks again for posting!
You saved me a lot of time and trouble trying to track down a solution.

At least Demco has recognized the issue. Back last summer, they told me it was my fault due to a bad install. They had me send pictures, do all sorts of tests and adjustments for them, until it was closing in on my travel date.
The shame is that it still listed to work on Mavericks, without optional components.

AndyMark am-4218a is the Pressure Regulator and Guage.
AndyMark am-4220a is the Pressure regulator without guage

Both are adjustable and have 1/4 inch press-in tube fittings.

I installed pressure regulator as well. When I adjust pressure to 25psi the deco unit makes a noise. Is this normal?

No noise unless the breakaway is pulled or the inertia switch is adjusted wrong.

I know no one using supplement brake systems that haven’t experience problems from time to time - I have be been flat towing lighter vehicles like the Maverick for years and haven’t experienced any issues behind my 34,000 pound diesel pusher - If I were to step up to a heavier “toad” or traveled frequently to the mountains I’d probably consider the invis-brake system…

disclaimer: I am not recommending going without a supplemental brake system but I’m a flat-lander in Florida and the steepest hill i usually deal with is the decline exiting my RV Garage…
