I have a lariat FX4 and I was hoping the truck would automatically lock when I walked away from the vehicle with the fob in my pocket, like most vehicles. Am I missing something or is this how it was designed?

It’s kind of silly to have to take the fob out of my pocket only to lock it, when it unlocks and starts from inside my pocket.

most vehicles? Only Tesla and newer luxury models are coming to mind that actually lock when you walk away without any input from you
Other than Ford, I havent owned a vehicle in years that did not lock automatically, whether it be by fob proximity or a set time after I left the car. Even mid level model Hondas lock when I walk more than 6 feet from the car with the fob in my pocket.

I have literally never heard of this. Always had to either hit the button on the fob or hit the button/ribbed area/whatever on the door handle to have it lock

Odd, I never knew they still made cars that didn’t do this until I bought my first ford last year. The 2020 ranger didn’t do it and neither does the maverick. I’m glad I can at least do it by touching the handle.

Odd that I didn’t know they DID make cars that so this. Does it really unlock when you walk up to the car?

I just walk up and as soon as my hand hits the handle it unlocks, pretty awesome. One of the reasons why I got the Lariat because, as silly as it sounds, I got too used to the keyless features with Honda and I’d always forget to lock the damn Ranger.

I knew you were getting confused. It doesnt automatically do that. There’s a sensor on the back of the handle that unlocks when you touch it w the key in your pocket. You’re doing it 😜

I have only been talking about locking the vehicle when I walk away, not touching the handle when I walk up, but whatever makes you feel better.
