Are the sound proof windshields weaker?

Small rock cracked my windshield on the way to Florida, are the sound proof windshields weaker?

If anything, you would think they would be stronger with the multiple layers. Maybe the lower height of the truck and poor windshield angle but I have no idea. Mine had a rock crack it after 12 days and I have the acoustic windshield.

I put the now discontinued Aeroskin2 hood protector on it, the one that has the bump to deflect air flow. This was after my windshield cracked. Now. I hardly have anything hit the windshield even bugs.

I've had my Lariat just shy of a year and have had no cracks on the windshield at all, knock on wood. I did put a bug deflector on but it's the flush one, not the one with the bump shown in the above post.

No, they have to meet the same standards as a traditional windshield.
All windshields are laminated, the acoustic ones have lighter glass. So they may be more susceptible to cracking from rocks, but they still meet the dot standards.

Got a large rock hit. Loud noise and huge smudge. No crack - on borrowed time now.

I believe Acoustic is two thinner layers of glass with laminate in the middle (with laminate on inside and outside just like other ones)?

I could see one layer cracking more easily than a thicker single pane.
