don't know of any undercoating but Ford has been e-coating unibody vehicles for many years. fresh from the body shop units go through a submerged hot phosphate wash, dried then electro coated. after e-coat unites are rinsed and oven dried prior to getting a primer coat.

If you're thinking this truck will last 10-20 years without any help in northern states where there is snow and salt then you will be disappointed. Look at the Ford vehicles from 10 years ago (like the Escapes) to get and idea of what to expect. Rust on the botton of the doors, at the front hood lip, around wheel wheels and underneath the vehicle will give you some idea of what to expect. If you plan on keeping it for a long time in good shape, (10-20 years) then see how much it would cost to have it sprayed or try it yourself. I followed some you tube videos and sprayed waxoyl throughout the doors, crevices, wheel wells and all underneath. It was much easier than I expected but it did use a lot of cans. Their plastic hose tube spray applicator worked really well. There are several other products available to use that may cost less and go on differently. Waxoyl is like a spray wax that goes on and slowly dries...it seems sticky but supposedly it dries out over time. It initally dries in an hour or two but really takes a week to get semi-firm. Cleanup is easy after sprayed on since it can simply be wiped off paint if needed. I though it would pick up a lot of road crap but when I looked it all over after a few weeks it did not. I covered just about everything I could with it so you need to be able to get under the vehicle to apply it.... and wear a mask and old clothes. It was nowhere near as messy as I thought it would be if done outside.

I don't believe they are undercoated. After spending the coin for a new vehicle (our trade-in was 19 years old) we decided it would be worth it. Undercoating and rustproofing was almost $800.
No it is not. I crawled under my Mav Hybrid and painted the exhaust with high temp paint. Worked great. Then had Krowns rustproofing done. its the oil type stuff done each year. With tax $172. When i first went under I checked it out. it has painted body on under side but just regular color of car(mine is atlas blue) . Other parts mostly black paint. No under coating of any kind. I have snow and salt. I hope to keep it 10 years.

No undercoating from factory, if you are in a rust prone area I'd recommend it. We had ours Waxoyled underneath and inside the doors, tailgate, rocker panels etc no drilling as they use a narrow wand to spray into body cavities through existing drain holes and other openings.
