I find the stockers to be quiet enough but I would like a better ride. The Blizzaks i use in the winter are a bit more noisy but great in the snow so I don't need AWD.

Generally yes. New tires are softer and more pliable, so they are quieter. Tires get louder as the tread wears down and also as they dry rot and age from UV degradation. My all-terrain tires sound like I have 4 bad wheel bearings as they near 6/32" tread depth and 7 years old.

Me: 2024 Lariat hybrid with the OEM Michelin's. I find the road surface has more to do with tire noise on all my vehicles.

My wife's Lexus NX 300 has a new set of Michelin All Season and the noise level, as I stated, depends on the road surface.

Note that there are multiple choices in the Michelin AS series. The AS with the correct speed rating for the NX offered one with greater tread depth and was listed as used on Cadillac, Honda as well as others. The info was on the Michelin website.

My 20" Continentals are might smoother than factory Continentals. Factory ones had 1 ply sidewall, disliked that.

All tires get noisier as the age. Some more so than others.

Tires do in fact become louder as the tread wears down as the result of a combination of decrease in tread depth, as well as the rubber hardening due to exposure to the elements.

In some cases, the tread compound found at the out edge of the tread when new is different than that closer to the tire carcass. One of the reasons a 'fresh' tire may grip differently than a slightly worn tire. The outer tread tends to be a bit softer compound for many tires. The width of the tread gaps may also narrow from the top to the bottom of the tread in some models, further affecting the noise absorption or cancellation.

Also consider as tires age, the rubber slowly dries out due to exposure to the elements, along with heat cycles. As the rubber hardens, it tends to be less absorbent to sounds, and sort of allows the sounds to echo more, creating more road noise.

It's not your imagination, they do get a bit louder, and ride harsher as they age, as the tread wears down.

My 2002 truck came with continental tires also.its a xlt,ecoboost and trailer hitch on it.32,000 thousand miles on it with continental tires also.rides good,handles good,and quiet ride.getting another set just like it when needed!

Yep, you got it. When your tires are down to the tread bars they are much louder than when new.
