I am considering a Maverick and had a couple questions. Currently I have a Ram and I connect an older iPhone 5 to my entertainment system with a USB cable. I can then control the what plays, skip a song, search, do random play using the Ram touch screen. I still have my phone paired using bluetooth to make and receive calls interrupting he music.

Can I do this with the Maverick. I am looking at a gas only model, not the hybrid.

Reason for trading the RAM is just no longer need a big truck.

Not sure to be honest my oldest phone still supports Carplay so I cannot test it. I could try plugging in an old iPod to see if that works, but I'd have to find it first. :cautious:

I have a first generation iPhone SE. Similar age to iPhone 5.

If i plug in with cable can use car play for music and Waze maps. Will alert me for text messages and display past text messages. Only have had Maverick for two weeks but think it will do hands free calls too. Have used it with Siri to send hands free text (using Maverick microphone). Still figuring out what it all can do.

If I just leave phone in my pocket it will connect via bluetooth and play music but no maps etc.

So far pleased with functionality with my iPhone SE (first generetion).

First generation SE (March 2016 iOS15 Max OS) is much newer than the iPhone 5 (Sept 2012 iOS10 max OS). iPhone 5 did support early versions of carplay, not sure if it still does, I believe the current versions of carplay, like the Maverick has, requires iOS 13 or newer.

Bluetooth should still work, since it has always been backwards compatible.
