Yes, I have been occasionally gigging in the Maverick. About 350 trips for Spark, about 100 DD food deliveries. Since Spark likes to double or triple up orders, I have a couple containers I segment them with in the bed. I would highly recommend a tonneau cover if you don't have one.Just curious if anyone does this as a sideline, or am I crazy? I tried it this weekend a little.
Uber in my rural area is trash. And Uber will not accept the Maverick as an option for transporting people. It's OK with me, my car insurance isn't fond of it either. So, I will only attempt any Uber Eats if DD and Spark are both dead.
I created an LLC to try and segment company liability from personal. I would say that it is a quasi seperation. Walmart makes you identify as a person, but you can register as an LLC. I opted out of their arbitration clause (must write a letter within first 30 days to opt out). If they drop you because of a violation, I don't know the effects of opting out to that scenario. The people who don't opt out moan about the process being terrible and very "black box" and arbitray, as in they won't tell you what is going on with it until they reach a decision should you appeal. All I know is one time I made a mistake and the back bed was loose when I pulled away, and someone's groceries got deposited on US 1. They treated me very well through that process, and treated me with respect. I'm thinking maybe they wouldn't have been do nice had I not opted out.
Depending on market, you may have better results than me. I might get 4-5 trips per day out of Spark, but I don't go after dark either. I expect that to maybe go up with DST in a couple months. My minimum order on DD is $7 and the mileage / money can't be backward. And I refuse delivery to college campus.
Typical for me is like $1.50 per mile. I rarely have those days of $2/mile, although on Valentine's Day and Super Bowl sunday I did.
My wife still works and I get invesment dividends, so our effective federal tax rate is about 18% after deductions. So, I need to reserve that amount for taxes.
Document and claim the mileage, and for my example, the net benefit out of the mileage is only around 25 cents per mile.
I claim all sorts of expenses like the totes, the bags for DD, home office, etc. Even client support, like bringing half dozen donuts to the Walmart loaders to celebrate my 300th trip.
Good luck, just don't try to play the system using multiple accounts and multiple ID's. Unless you want to be talked about on the reddit forums. Some areas who have seen an influx of migrants are seeing some shenanigams with coyotes gaming the apps. The companies are cracking down on checking IDs though.
