New to Android auto. I am using the Motorola dongle for wireless has worked great. However when I start Android auto waze comes up which I like. But then it switches the radio station I am playing to spotify. Then I have to go back to the Ford icon and start the radio station back up. I have killed spotify app but it still starts how can I stop it. Thanks

Most likely a setting on your cell phone in the Android Auto settings that allows Spotify to begin automatically playing.

Mine has a setting that says "Start music automatically" - "Automatically start media when you start driving."

Sound familiar?

Can you tell me where that setting is? When I first put the wireless in it did not do that. Only been in the last week or so. Also while listening to the radio sometimes it will just switch to spotify spontaneously . Thought maybe it was because at home we use a Google hub to play spotify. It has not done this alot. Galaxy s10 plus.

You need to search your phone for android auto to get into the setting on your phone. Then scroll down a bit and this is what it looks like.

"I once had a similar situation where my apps seemed to have a mind of their own! What worked for me was diving into the settings of Android Auto. Have you tried tinkering around there? Also, sometimes force stopping the Spotify app from your phone's settings can do the trick.
And hey, speaking of smooth rides, have you ever tried to buy spotify plays usa to boost your playlist visibility? It's like giving your tunes an extra boost on the road."

Thanks forget why now but the issue is resolved. One nagging issue is the voice commands don't always work. I can see the icon modulate but no words appear. Then 20 minutes later it will work.

I went into "settings" on my phone and did a search for "Android Auto" and it came right up. I just signed up for YouTube Music yesterday. It was $110 for a year and has solved my music dilemma. 😬
I've just been plugging in my phone when I get in the truck. It would be nice to go wireless.

Yes to go wireless you will need a dongle I have the Motorola one but there are others. But unless you have wireless charging it's kind of a waste. AA uses alot of power.

This is why I like the dongle.

1. I can keep my cell phone in my pocket.
2. It automatically links to my phone when I start the truck.
3. It automatically pauses music when I get a text message, reads it out loud, and asks me if I want to respond. I can verbally respond and it sends it. When I am done, it automatically starts the music back up.
4. If I get a call, I can tell it to send the message "I will call them back" if I want to.
5. If I am going on a long drive, I will plug it in to another port to keep it charged up so I don't lose the dongle features/connection.

In other words, I don't have to fiddle with my phone anymore while driving AND, I can play my music.
