I Have the same problem. It's because even if you connect to the phone with a USB cord, the phone will still try to connect to your truck via Bluetooth. Disable the auto connection for Bluetooth on your phone and the truck app won't get confused.
How do you disable the auto connection for bluetooth on the phone?

I hate that we can't just connect via bluetooth to the stereo for android auto, without a 3rd party addon. Sometimes I don't want my phone to be charging, or someone else wants to charge their phone, but as soon as you unplug, you lose android auto. Then I started getting intermittent disconnections, while plugged in, or the whole system would get super laggy. This happened before and after the last software update. Rebooting didn't make any difference.

So then I got the motorola wireless BT adapter. Which was nice and worked well for a while, but then when you plug in your phone for a charge, it drops the BT connection and goes hardwired connection and I'd have problem there again. Now, my BT AA connection has started dropping every few seconds. Maybe it's a malfunctioning BT dongle. It just all seems needlessly complicated. Why can't we just have built in BT connection for Android Auto?

Android Auto doesn't run over Bluetooth for data. It needs WiFi or a cable.

You could get a 2025 Maverick with Sync 4 and built in Android Auto over WiFi.

I still use my original AAWIRELESS adapter with no issues. If I need to plug in my phone, I plug it in the USB port in the back of the console or a fast charger plugged into the back of my console. But those may only be on the lariat.

Does your truck have a 12-volt plug? You could get a 12-volt USB car charger.

@gullzaway - How quickly does your phone connect and display AA on the dash screen after you get in and start your truck? I've been using a cheapo Temu dongle since day one of my /23 ownership, but it's never been quick and reliable enough for my satisfaction. I'm thinking maybe the AAWireless 2.0 might give me better results, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah, I can do that. I have it back there and have used it to charge, but I'm often using that port for something else. I just want the Bluetooth to work. I guess I should just buy anew one and see if that solves it.

My Motorola wireless adapter would usually sync up in about 10 seconds, maybe less.

Usually under 10 seconds.
