Am I Blind or Did They Cover Them Over

I recently took delivery of a ‘24 hybrid XLT with the DIBL that comes with the luxury package. I quickly spent some time today looking at and planning for a number of mods for the truck bed including wiring a marine switch panel, LED strips, and additional rear facing LED pods. I was looking to have access to the prewired 12V ports that I found on the pillars on either side of the tail gate on my previous Mavericks. What I found was the DIBL covers where I expected to find the small access panels. Did Ford do away with that feature, or like the holes needed for the cargo rail system, I need to dismantle the liner and cut out part of the liner? I’m already frustrated that Ford imposed the DIBL on me by changing from a SIBL accompanying the luxury package. The least I would have expected was an option to drop a liner all together and gone with a third party or dealer SIBL.

Jim, I hate to be the Devil's Advocate, but you gotta cut Ford some slack. They cannot build a truck keeping in mind EVERY POSSIBLE MODIFICATION YOU-ALL MAY WANT TO DO TO THEIR TRUCK! I have been on this forum for over a year, and listened to 21,204 modifications, of which some are downright maniacal, if there is such a word. If, before you purchase the truck, you show the salesperson the list of intended modifications you are going to make, maybe, only MAYBE, the dealership will have an expert who can tell you what will and won't work, e.g., the DIBL covering up access panels. Even that is a shot in the dark, especially with a new model. Good luck with your plan; it sounds like you know what you are doing.

I had the same issue with my XLT. The DIBL covered both 12v access that Ford claims as a selling point. It also covers the drain plugs for any tonneau covers.

There are witness marks to do the cutouts in the backside of the DIBL. They cut out the inverter and cubby’s why stop there. I had my dealership do the cutouts and they mad such a mess of it chipping paint and drilling holes in the bed I complained and they did SIBL for free. The service manager was shocked when I showed him pictures.

I think they should expose the things they are touting at the least.

That’s just one reason I was happy that my order stayed as a ‘23 rather than ‘24. I didn’t like what Ford was doing away with on the ‘24, and I really wanted the SIBL.

Hell back in 23 they would give you free cargo rails with your SIBL!

sounds like someone dropped the ball on installation. try to get the dealer to fix i guess.
