I just bought a tesla model 3 yesterday to replace my future maverick. I ordered from a small dealer who stated they had 20 orders, only 2 were rollovers and I ordered day 1 for 2023 the minute the dealership opened. Somehow I am over halfway back in the line my sales person stated. He also says he has no idea how many allocations they will get so it isn't looking great. I put a $500 deposit on the truck that is refundable up until its delivered. I was keeping my deposit on the truck in case I get scheduled tomorrow, but if not I was going to take it back and bail on my order. I don't "need" a truck but should I keep my deposit on the truck in case it comes in? I ordered an XL 4k truck but seems the Xl's arent going to get built. Prices seem to be leveling out on ecoboosts so I do not see myself making more than 1-2k if I went to resell it so figured I should just get my deposit back while I can.

Might as well get your money back if you don't want the truck. I am also waiting on an XL. What dealer did you order from? I am in South Carolina also. Only about 90 miles from you.

Seems like you already made your decision and sounds absolutely reasonable to just take your deposit back and spend it on a garage charger or Supercharging. Either way, best of luck.

I ordered from walterboro ford. besides invoice pricing I wouldn't order from them again. They were pretty clueless with maverick updates and I doubt I would even get my maverick with it being such a small dealer and almost no allocations. Otherwise good service.

If your backup choice is a model 3, why were you buying a maverick? I can't think of two more dissimilar vehicles.

If you flip it, remember there's taxes to consider... I wouldn't even think you'd clear much on a hybrid these days, much less an EB... Dealerships aren't admitting it, but the crazy demand/guys willing to pay 10k over sticker days are over. I'd expect an EB might clear 3-4k over sticker these days... which taxes, your time/effort/etc would eat up. And you're not going to be able to overpay for a trade-in the way I imagine a lot of those dealers getting 10k+ premiums last year were doing.

I'd thank the dealer and tell them to remember you let them score the profit on your Maverick the next time you do business with them instead of trying to squeeze a few hundred dollars profit out of it for yourself... but that's just me.

yeah max tax in my state is $500. I decided to just get my deposit back. Dealer is cancelling the order so they wont even take it (they sell at invoice). I was shopping for any vehicle in the price range. Originally wanted the hybrid, switched to ecoboost for availability, still not scheudled, etc. I ended up getting an insane deal on a model 3 which is why I bought it. I wasn't necessarily looking for a maverick to begin with it just had some stuff I wanted and was cheap lol
